Civil Services Exam

Civil services exam is one of the toughest exams and


requires rigorous preparation. Apart from acquiring
adequate knowledge on conventional topics including
history, geography, Indian economy, government
policies, and programs, a special significance should
also be given on improving your general knowledge
base.

Often students leave no stone unturned while preparing


for the civil services exam but miss to attain strong
command in general studies which constitutes the
major portion of IAS question paper.

As per the recent calculations, 600 marks in the GS


paper, 200 in the essay, and 300 in interview are based
on your general knowledge base. Another paper in the
administration is more like a GS paper 3, which means
a total of 1100 to 1400 marks depend directly on your
general knowledge ability.

revise the topic. This practice will save your time

2. The basic approach while preparing for the exam
should be to study, learn, revise and improvise. You
must study the topic thoroughly. And try to seek as
much information as you wish, revise at least twice,
thrice as much as you can before the exam.
3. Don't just rely on guide, standard preparatory
material or NCERT textbooks. Come up with you own
ideas, and thoughts to understand the concepts.
4. You can refer the previous years question papers to
check if you have missed any topic.
5. Prepare thoroughly for subjective exams. Note down
important facts and points for prelims as you make
descriptive notes to study at an eleventh hour.
