ABOUT IUD METHOD WITH IUD USE OF INTERESTS AT PANGADEGAN AREA

ABSTRACT
Background. Indonesia became the fourth country with the largest population in the world. The
high birth rate in Indonesia, one of which resulted from lack of the contraception program. IUD
is a type of long-term contraception which has a 99 % effective to prevent pregnancy, least IUD
acceptors in Indonesia are caused by lack of knowledge about the IUD.
Objective. To assess an association between contraception acceptors knowledge about IUD
method with IUD use of interests at Pangadegan Area Hegarsari Village Pataruman District
Banjar City.

Methods. This research was conducted using an analytical-descriptive method with crosssectional design. Total sample is 190 women taken with consecutive sampling technique to
couples of childbearing age at Pangadegan Area Hegarsari Village Pataruman District Banjar
City in July 2015. This research was analyzed using Chi-square test in order to know the
association between contraception acceptors knowledge about IUD method with IUD use of
interests.

Results. The result shows respondents with good category of knowledge were 17.4% and
respondents with lack category of knowledge were 82.6%. Respondents with interest in using
IUD contraception were 20% and with no interest were 80%. Association between knowledge
about IUD with IUD use of interest has Chi-square score 0,000 with p value < 0.05

Conclusions. Theres association between contraception acceptors knowledge about IUD with
IUD use of interests at Pangadegan Area Hegarsari Village Pataruman District Banjar City.
