Cataloging Meeting Notes

Notes from CM: 9-17-15, in Avon

Pros & Cons of additional processing on our Blackstone audiobooks
Pro: Our logo, library name/address -less work for us without some
stickers
Con: Typically this kind of processing squeezes the already small text we dont want that, if the processing will make the text too hard to read then we
wont go with this
Find out: agreed we want consistency do other suppliers provide free
processing?
Midwest, Recorded Books, and Listening Library - what do
they offer
CD Music
Differentiation between Music CDs and CDBooks, call numbers should
not match
Replace all instances of CD with MUS on CD music
Drop the Dewey number on all cd music, continue to use 3 letter artist
name
Adult and J music items all get the music sticker
Separate CD Music from other formats
How to use the new stickers, the Word template, and things to keep in mind
ALA BT Courier, Font size: 12 (Jolanda is installing this)

Same location rule the sticker top should be 2 from the
bottom of the item

Notes for acquisitions/unpacking
Continue to write in the date on all items
We will treat Baker and Taylor as our default vendor. You do not need
to write in the vendor if it is Baker & Taylor but continue to write in any and all
other vendors
If the price is readily apparent on the item, you do not have to write it
in. If it is hard to find, do your copy catalogers a favor and write it in.
J items with fewer than 3 copies has location code written in
Finishing with the lists of items that needed attention (shared Google Doc)

These google docs will continue to be available for use
