To Whom It May Concern:

This letter serves as a recommendation for Caitlin Dark. I have had the opportunity and pleasure of working
closely with Miss Dark during an exceptional and successful Michigan State University (MSU) intern experience
for the 2008/2009 school year at Everett High School.

Everett High School is a ninth through twelfth grade school that has an ethnically and socio-economically diverse
population of approximately 1,600 students. The school is also on a traditional class schedule. All six classes meet
every day for fifty-five minutes each class session. Miss Dark successfully taught with ease three first year levels
of Spanish and a third year level of Spanish. Her classes ranged from twenty-five to forty students. She worked to
develop and maintain a comfortable atmosphere that emphasizes student collective accountability and mutual
respect. Miss Dark’s uses of external resources (authentic materials, supplements, PowerPoint presentations,
music, videos, etc.) help her students understand the lesson.

Caitlin is a dedicated, organized, and highly qualified professional. She exhibits authentic concern and sincerity
when dealing with other colleagues, parents, and students. She is courteous, trustworthy and reliable, and is always
eager to learn more about the education profession. She has participated in numerous professional development
opportunities in the Lansing School District, and has developed, implemented and supervised an educational field
trip to Central Michigan University. She has proctored standardizes tests, chaperoned the Winter Ball, and taught
English to a young Korean student. She is an ambitious, well prepared and technologically savvy professional.
She is constantly seeking additional input from others to improve herself and her students.

Miss Dark has a confident and enthusiastic command of the Spanish language, which she acquired during her
study abroad in Ecuador. Her leadership, organizational and professional traits will allow her to become
extremely effective in any setting. It gives me great pride to introduce this trustworthy, dependable, and highly
qualified Spanish teacher to our profession.

Sincerely,

Alfonso Salais, Jr.
