TIER #1: LIFESTYLE GOALS
Determine what your priorities are for your day-to-day life during your career. Be
as specific as possible.
1.) Have a career within the mass media career field preferably TV Production
2.) Have a family by the age of 28.
3.) Have a job that does not require to much traveling, relocating if necessary.
4.) I want a great paying job so that I can help support my family.
5.) If possible work for a company that gives back to the community or have y own
communication company that gives back to the community.

TIER #2: CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

List the careers you eliminated from your FOCUS assessment and describe why
you eliminated them.
1.)Agricultural Sciences Professor
I eliminated this career because I am not interested in teaching. I also will not have enough
knowledge as far as biology and agriculture.
2.)Archivist
I eliminated this career choice because it requires you to know a lot of languages which in english
is what i know fluently . I know a bit of Spanish and french but not enough to be qualified for this
job

3.)Cardiologist
for this career field you would need a biology and chemistry degree plus a lot more schooling
within the science field. I am not into the healthcare field so this would defiantly not be
something that suits me
4.)Community Health Nurse
I eliminated this career because you would need a lot of schooling in the health
care field. Also you would have to do a lot of clinical working with real people
which I do not think would fit what i want to do in life.
5.)Daycare Center Worker
I Eliminate this because for this you would need to have done teaching and got a degree in
teaching which that is not my focus and also this career does not pay well.

1.) Film Editor
I like this career because it requires putting pieces of a film into a nice sequenced
movie, show, commercial or PSA. This is a very tedious job which is what I like
about it.
2.)Newspaper Editor
This career is appealing because Newspaper is a form of media that people still
use and also with convergence this could be used for physical newspapers as well
as online news. Also it is a demanding job that requires you to edit different
stories everyday.
3.)Newspaper/ Magazines Editor
For this career, it appeals to me because essentially the one editing is in control of
what gets to be published and having that responsibility as well as key writing
and editing skills is what interest me.
4.) Photojournalist
This job appeals to me because people in this filed have to go out and tell a story with
pictures/video as a journalist would however the media captured would be the information given
out through news and media. I like this because This is something I would prefer being as though I
am not one that wants to be in front of the camera rather behind.

5.)Communication Professor
This career appeals to me because I am a communication major and just like how the teachers in
my major teach me a lot about all the aspects of communication. It would be nice to teach
students the same things I learned to help better them and help them be successful in the
communication field.

Be able to meet deadlines, Photo Editing

What type of experience is needed? What background are they looking for?
A portfolio with work done
An internship experience

One who is able to move around quickly and take pictures for news stories

Editors have the job of taking raw video and using computer based software to edit film to be
shown on air or movies.

teaching internship
graduate assistance or teaching assistant job before hand

One who is knowledgeable in the field of communication who has a passion for
spreading and teaching that know ledge
