Language
Understand that languages have different written and visual communication systems,
different oral traditions and different ways of constructing meaning

on their purpose and context (for example, tense and types of sentences)

Number and Algebra

Investigate the conditions required for a number to be odd or even and identify odd
and even numbers
Recognise, model, represent and order numbers to at least 10 000
Apply place value to partition, rearrange and regroup numbers to at least 10 000 to
assist calculations and solve problems
Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction
Recall addition facts for single-digit numbers and related subtraction facts to develop
increasingly efficient mental strategies for computation
Represent and solve problems involving multiplication using efficient mental and
written strategies and appropriate digital technologies

Measurement and Geometry

Measure, order and compare objects using familiar metric units of length
Tell time to the minute and investigate the relationship between units of time

Art
Year 4
Central Idea: Lines are all around us.
Students will explore how lines are used in art
in a variety of ways. They will examine
famous artworks, looking at how lines can
create movement and gesture. From this
inquiry, students will experience creating their
own artworks. They will have opportunity to
use a variety of visual art mediums which will
emphasise the element of art focus for this
Unit.
Physical Education
This unit the year level will be looking at basic
basketball skills and drills. These include
dribbling, passing, catching, passing games,
shooting, relays, modified games of
basketball and the basic rules.

Vietnamese Language and Culture (VLC)


Language focus: TRANSPORTATION
(Collaborative Unit)
Year 4 VLC will collaborate with home room
classes to inquire into the Central Idea for this UOI.
During VLC lessons, the students will focus on
transportation. They will learn how to:
-Name different vehicles in Vietnamese
-Give simple directions
-Sing a vehicle song : Em tp li t
Culture focus: MOON FESTIVAL
-Focus on common activities and lantern
decoration.

Through these, students will have a chance to
