Planning
Groups of 4-5, plan a lesson 2 group members will teach

Choose an instructional strategy: inquiry, primary document, or


discussion

Choose classroom, content/topic, date & time of enactment

Consider student thinking

Write lesson (use part V of unit template)

Practice the lesson

Lesson Study:
Enacting

The lesson will be taught TWICE (1st early in the day, 2nd later in
the day) in two different classrooms

classrooms should be same grade level, or one grade above/

Lesson Study:
Debriefing

Plan a debriefing session immediately after first lesson enactment

Ideally your FI will attend this session

Analyze the data collected during the observation

Focus on the LESSON (not the teacher)

Discuss how you might modify the lesson for the 2nd round

Decide what districts/schools you are interested in, research before hand

Review your resume - bring more copies than the schools you plan to visit
(print on resume paper)

Wear business attire

Map out your visit

Gather information/business cards

Never say anything negative about a school or district

Make notes about each school/booth you visit

Treat it like a job interview – follow up with schools you are interested in
