Suzanne Deatherage, assistant director of Texas A&M's AgriLife Extension, and two of her colleagues used a university plane to attend a diversity training in September of 2008 in San Angelo, 306 miles from College Station. A university spokesman said scheduling conflicts made it impossible for anything other than a day trip by private plane at a cost of $2,580 or $860 per person.
