CD MANUFACTURING IS A VERY IN DEPTH PROCESS...
We will attempt to demystify the process of CD manufacturing, including the different processes, the various packaging, the techniques used to create a CD, and the guidelines used for audio and design formatting. A CD, the common abbreviation for a Compact Disc is manufactured in mass quantities by almost every Record Label, Recording Artist, and Band in the United States. The Manufacturing process includes the creation of the disc itself, the inclusion of data on the disc, (in our case this will be audio), the creation of the packaging that will hold the disc, and then the printing and assembly of the final product. There are a couple of different ways in which a CD is created, and also a few different ways in which you can print on the disc and the packaging. In this article, we will attempt to explain the different methods used in CD Manufacturing, the different printing methods, and finally, the steps you can take to insure that your manufacturing project produces the best results.

Home CD Duplicator:
Many companies sell devices for duplicating CD’s. Some of these products also include printing and packaging options as well. The market for these products is relatively small, considering the ease in which you can have a professional manufacturing plant handle your project.

Types of CD Manufacturing
There are three main types of CD Manufacturing commonly used by manufacturing companies and individuals... REPLICATION: Replication is the most commonly used process for commercial CD’s. In this process, a glass master is created from the original CD, which is then used to recreate an exact copy of the disc by stamping. DUPLICATION: Duplication is a process of CD Manufacturing where a DC is copied to another disc using a disc drive that as writing capabilities. This process is commonly referred to as “burning”. ONE-OFF: One-Offs are made similarly to duplicated CD’s. The main difference is that the material being written to the disc is usually coming from a set of computer files. This method is referred to as a one-off because in most cases you are only creating one copy.
