Point Break Action in the air and on the waves—this movie has it all. The acting isn’t great, and
maybe it’s all a little unrealistic, but it’s nonstop action from start to finish. It’s also good to see
these two actors together—what a team! If you like surfing, skydiving and other wild sports—
and you like a good detective story, too—this is a movie you must see! $$$$
b ____________ is like Die Hard but filmed on a mountain … All the familiar characteristics are there:
the one-liners, the international bad guys, big shoot-outs, etc. The tension never reaches the levels
of Die Hard, but it’s still enjoyable, if you like this sort of thing. And if you get bored by the same
old stuff, you can always look at the magnificent scenery! $$$
c ____________ Action, culture and romance in one movie—a legendary warrior retires, but comes
back into action to fight against his old enemy. Based on Asian martial arts, the incredible fight
sequences are a brilliant mix of dances with swords and video games … Amazing! $$$$$
d ____________ If you like your action movies to be about sports, this one might be for you!
All-American heroes and antiheroes do battle on the football field while the bosses try to make as
much money as possible. I think you need to know something about the sport to enjoy this movie,
but it’s pretty entertaining anyway. $$$

4 Then he was really in trouble. A pilot saw Larry as he was drifting into the airspace of Los
Angeles International Airport. He radioed the airport and said he was passing a guy in a chair with
a gun—4,000 meters above the ground. Night was coming and a breeze was blowing Larry out to
sea while a helicopter was following him.
b _____ Larry tied the balloons to a chair and filled them with helium. He was filling the balloons
when he noticed that the chair was a meter above the ground, so he climbed on the chair to test
it. It worked! Smiling to himself, Larry packed some sandwiches and his air gun. He thought that
when it was time to descend he could just pop some balloons.
c _____ Larry Waters of Los Angeles only had one dream—he wanted to fly. Unfortunately, he didn’t
get into the Air Force. So, day after day, Larry watched airplanes fly over his house.
Then, one day, while he was watching the sky, Larry had an idea. He went to a store and bought
forty-five weather balloons and some helium.
d _____ The police were waiting for Larry when he landed. As they were leading him away, Larry
said to the reporters: “A man can't just sit around?”
e _____ So, he cut the rope that kept the balloons down. He found himself shooting up into the sky
very, very quickly! The floating chair was climbing higher and higher. Larry was nervous. He was
thinking about shooting the balloons, but he didn’t want to come down as quickly as he went up!
f _____ It was difficult to rescue Larry because every time they got close to him, the wind from the
helicopter blew Larry away. Eventually, he caught a rope and slowly came down to Earth.

TH
Aesop was a storyteller in Greece in the 7 Century B.C. His stories—called fables—are all very
simple, but each one has a moral. Even today, two thousand years after he died, Aesop’s fables can
teach us important lessons.
a _______ Once upon a time, there was a tortoise and a hare. As everyone knows, the tortoise is
a very slow animal, one of the slowest. The hare, on the other hand, is one of the fastest.
b _______ But the hare was not only very fast. He was also very proud. He said to the tortoise,
“You’re so slow. You take much longer to do everything. I’m much quicker than you!”
c _______ “And my legs and ears are longer,” continued the hare. “In fact, I’m much more handsome
and cleverer than you.”
d _______ In his very gentle, calm way, the tortoise said, “Well, it’s true your legs and ears are longer,
but if we race, I can win.”
e _______ “You! Win?!” The hare laughed. He was very rude. He thought he was the best animal
in the whole animal kingdom.
f _______ The hare ran so quickly he was soon far ahead of the tortoise, who was walking slowly
behind. So the hare stopped for a rest under a tree ... where he fell asleep!
g _______ Well, while the hare was sleeping—and he slept much longer than he thought—the slow
and steady tortoise just kept walking, slowly but surely.
h _______ When the hare woke up and realized what had happened, he ran as fast as he could.
But it was too late. The tortoise was already there at the finishing line, resting and calmly
waiting for him.
