Subject: Fw: Philip Hower WHISTLEBLOWER

His Excellency, Archbishop Pietro Sambi

Apostolic Nuncio to the United States
3339 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC, 20008

Your Excellency,
I am forwarding this letter written yesterday to the Holy Father, so you will know the
circumstances in a speedy manner regarding what Church leaders and priests have done to Philip
Hower. There is no hiding of or denying these matters that began 25 years ago with the actions
of then Bishop William Keeler at the Harrisburg Diocese, and continued recently with Bishop
Choby throwing away, discarding like garbage, a courageous, worthy, honest, trusting and
obedient man, only words and hands away from ordination, because he's a whistleblower.
Hopefully, there will be a disposition in the matter of Philip Hower that will be acceptable and
that will give him back the life and the good name he had enjoyed before being ruined by four
bishops and several priests, punished because he blew the whistle attempting to expose the
corruption within.

The latest turn of events, actions and non-actions by Nashville Bishop Choby has made me re-
examine some of my beliefs as a life long Catholic, and where the dishonesty lies and why, in the
ill treatment of Philip Hower by some of our supposedly trusted leaders and shepherds. The letter
tells most all of the story and there is more evidence available regarding the disgraceful actions
of Bishop Choby toward Philip Hower, who has grown weak and discouraged in his efforts to
restore his good name.

We would think that with the "truths" we have been taught by our Church that one who blows
the whistle on corruption and wrongdoing would be welcome with open arms. Sadly, this has not
been the case with Philip Hower.

As Catholics we are entitled to a happy ending to this very sad story and dark chapter in our
Church history.
