research
2015
NASA - Langley
Research Center

Working with the CALIPSO satellite team to evaluate the surface and cloud
phase detection over Greenland to provide accurate categorization of clouds
and aerosols, which is essential for climate change research, as clouds are the
largest source of uncertainty in climate models.

Quantitative
Study of Snow and
Ice

UM - Energy
Technology

Atmospheric Science Summer Researcher

Researched how the height of the atmospheric planetary boundary layer is

responding due to climate change.
Reduced and analyzed 20+ years of atmospheric data, created 3-D flight
path models.
Soldered and repaired instruments and launched balloon-borne instruments

2013
National Radio
Astronomy
Observatory
REU program

Glaciology Undergraduate Researcher

Research project at the University of Montana to determine the primary

cause of albedo darkening along the Greenland ice sheet. Using Lidar data
from NASAs Operation IceBridge mission to determine melt rates across a
unique surface feature.

2014

Space Grant
Consortium

Atmospheric Science Research Intern

Planetary Science Summer Researcher

Created a sub-millimeter lightcurve of Saturns moon, Iapetus by scripting

multiple thermal models to determine sub-surface heat flow and surface
composition.

2013-2015

Mechanical Engineering Researcher

Involved in the design, prototyping, fabrication, construction and racing of a

high efficiency solar-electric experimental vehicle.
Competed in the 2014 North American Shell Eco-Marathon

employment
2015
Glacier National
Park - Geological
Society of America

Developed multiple interpretive programs to educate the public on the

history, ecology and geology of Glacier National Park.
Designed and presented interpretive talks and hikes ranging from astronomy
to the effects of climate change in Glacier.
Assisted in the Parks astronomy program through solar viewing and
running a 15 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at the monthly star parties at Logan
Pass.

2013-Present
UM Department
of Physics and
Astronomy

Astronomy Observation and Outreach Assistant

Graded four sections of student labs, set-up telescopes and answered peers
astronomy questions.
Led planetarium shows and gave astronomy demonstrations at local schools.
Led night sky tours, answered astronomy questions and set-up and
controlled a 0.4 m telescope at the Blue Mountain Observatory
