Brief Summary of The Book of Psalms

The Book of Psalms is the longest book of the Bible; it contains the longest chapter (119) and also the shortest (117). It is indeed the favorite Bible book of the multitudes because of its insights into the needs and provisions, the sorrows and joys of God’s people. Authorship is given to David, Solomon, Asaph, Moses and some who are anonymous. The Book of Psalms is sometimes called “The Hallal Book” and also “The Book of the Praises of Israel.” Psalms can be divided into five books.

Chapters 1 – 41 Chapters 42 – 72 Chapters 73 – 89 Chapters 90 – 106 Chapters 107 – 150

The immediate context of the psalms is in relation to the nation of Israel and their worship, but are clearly a precious resource for believers of every time and place.
