Some issues that can guide evaluation of genetic research

The key issue with genetic research is the extent to which a particular characteristic is influences
either by genes (nature) or the environment (nurture). Genetic research techniques should
allow us to separate out the effects of each but they dont necessarily do this.

The more closely you are related to someone, the more likely you are to live in a similar
environment.
Adopted children are not necessarily adopted at birth.
Adopted children may be placed with similar families to their biological ones.
DZ twins are not treated as similarly as MZ twins. MZ twins look the same, are often dressed
the same and may be treated by family members as a single unit. This is less likely with DZ
twins as they generally look different and may be different sexes.
