It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing to apply for the position of Content Specialist
of Social Studies. As a veteran social studies teacher, I believe this position aligns very well with
my skill set and I would be a valuable asset in this role.
Currently, I serve in several leadership positions such as the School Improvement Team
Facilitator. In this role, I have helped shape and develop our School Improvement Plan in order to
meet the educational needs of every student. In addition, I am currently the Technology
Coordinator, in which I assist staff on the implementation of using technology for differentiated
instruction, collecting data for formative assessments, as well as any other needs of any other
instructional technology issues that should arise.
For the past seven years, I have served as a 8 th Grade US History 1 teacher at Springfield
Middle School. I have served on several committees in the past to help revise and align the
Washington County Public 8th Grade Curriculum to Common Core and C3 standards. In addition, I
have helped develop DBQs for each unit to help assess student understanding. Currently, I
serve on a committee that assesses anchor papers to help teachers of all social studies content
in Washington County to develop exemplar papers to use as a model.
I have also been fortunate enough to implement 1 to 1 iPad use into my 8 th Grade Magnet
Social Studies. This has required me to use the SABR model to align lessons that are both
challenging and redefined by the use of technology. I believe that technology utilization is a
current movement in education and feel that I would be a strong addition in this goal.
I am currently a school coordinator for the nationally recognized We the People program,
and have had teams complete in the middle school county competitions. I have assisted in the
Springfield Middle School Geography Bee on several occasions.
I believe that my variety of skills and interests, as well as my passion for student
education would make me an excellent candidate for this position. I have included my resume
