Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
Three times each year I send progress reports home with my students. The progress report is a less formal
version of the report card. The progress reports reflects how students are doing in all content areas. I
complete each report with any concerns I have for the students. I also make it a point to be positive and
recommend a study strategy for students who I feel is struggling in an area. Students are sent home with their
progress reports in an envelope, parents must sign the envelope so I know it has been seen, and students
return the envelope. If a signed envelope has not come back after a day or two, I contact parents to ensure
they have seen the progress report. The progress report is a way for students and parents to see how each
student is doing, and it also opens the door for parents to contact me if they have questions.

Reflection on artifact:
The progress reports have a friendly format. They are not extremely detailed, but do give an accurate picture
of students success and struggles at that time. Sending these reports home mid-trimester allows for growth
and improvement before the report card. They are also an opportunity for students to read suggestions I have
for them, such as to more actively participate in class.
I would like to see progress reports take a step forward with a technology aspect. Currently parents are able to
monitor their students scores on Infinite Campus. This year we are sending report cards home via email for
the first time. I look forward to this and the response from parents.
