Hook/Attention Grabber: What do you guys notice about the gym today? What has changed?
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: Observing previous gym lessons to gauge the physical abilities of
the different students in both of the classes
Expectations of Learning and Behaviour: I expect the students to participate in the different
activities throughout the entire gym time block
Transition to Body: Because of what has changed we are going to have a quick safety talk before we
begin playing any activities

Learning Activity #1: Safety
Bleachers are set up for the Christmas concert
We will be using half of the gym, which means we need to be extra safe

Self-directed learning no running, lay out the boundaries, personal space, aware of others
Learning Activity #2: Crab Tag

How do you walk like a crab? - demonstrate
We are going to play crab tag!!!
Pick 2 or 3 people to be it they get a piny
Walking backwards, like a crab, the it people will try to tag you
If you get tagged sit cross legged and try to tag other crabs that pass you
When 2 or 3 people are left they win and will be it next time
Learning Activity #3: Wax Museum
The last people that won crab tag will help the teachers be the guards
Walk about the half gym till the whistle blows
Guards walk around and try to catch you moving
If they catch you do 10 burpees then you are back in the game
Play a couple rounds lasting about 5-8 minutes
Each round pick new guards so people have a turn
Get the statues to move in different ways skipping, jumping, crab walk, etc.
Closure: __5__ minutes
Transition to Next Lesson: Clean up and line up
WHAT IF??
If one of the games seems to be a big big big hit then we will continue playing that game
until time is over
If there is extra time: freeze tag or freeze dance
