Purpose of our Program


The purpose of the AHCPP is toincrease
exposure, access, readiness, academic
success and retention for students from
underrepresented and disadvantaged
backgrounds with particular emphasis on
those fromrural areaswho want to pursue
health professions degrees.

Design of the AHCPP


The AHCPP was designed based on
research completed during the planning
phase of the AHCPP grant.
Research included town hall meetings,
which resulted in feedback used to create
a framework of educational pipeline
activities designed to address specific
needs of Southwest Ohio rural
communities.

After review of data and meetings with
advisory board, four main activities were
deemed essential for pipeline activities:
Summer bridge program for incoming
freshman
2-day junior high health professions summer
camp
Health Profession Coaches embedded in
schools
Health Profession Career/College Fair

Health Profession Coaches


Two Health Profession Coaches were
embedded in our four target schools in
Adams, Brown, Clermont and Warren
County
Coaches spent an average of two hours in
each school on a biweekly basis, and
worked directly with a total of 82 students
in our pipeline schools.
