I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter Revelation 1:18 – 19
Chapter 1: Definitionz: Defining Spirituality
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees. Revelation 7:3 You never enjoy the world aright, till the sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens, and crowned with the stars: and perceive yourself to be the sole heir of the whole world. Thomas Traherne (c. 1637 - 1674) Source: Centuries of Meditations, I908
The main obstacle I think we encounter in spreading God Consciousness is in the definition of of the word God itself. Maybe no other word, with the possible exception of the word Love (joking?), has spread so much confusion and terror throughout the annals of human history. It can be argued that another word to represent the concept of the Universal Mind would be more appropriate. Man within his limited sense of Self will always find himself thinking about God in a limited fashion. God for most people has become some sort of tyrant who sits on a throne in the sky punishing people willy nilly for maybe no good reason at all. So should we talk instead about the Universe? I think the benefit of using the word “God”or any other variant of the name like Allah or Jah is that it implies Intelligence more than other terms that we could use. And God is invariably bigger than the Universe? Personally I like flipping the word 'God' kind of like some darker skinned people like to flip the word 'nigger' maybe? The word God has so much power in my mind because I grew up being deathly afraid of God. My beautiful mother had a vision when I was in her womb where God came to her and told her that she was carrying Jesus Christ. So with Christianity's insane focus on and ideas about the crucifixion I grew up as a child thinking that God and the people of the world would crucify me to save themselves from sin. Seeing Jesus Christ on a cross everywhere was extremely scary. This is exactly why we must redefine spirituality. Thinking that sacrificing someone enlightened, someone trying to help us to love and see clearly is going to save us from sin is unbelievably demonic. The concept of the big guy in the sky killing his only son so we can go to some ultimate retirement home after we die
has led a lot of people far far away from true spiritual union with the Great Spirit. I feel that celebrating Christ's crucifixion has served in scaring many people away from true enlightenment. Many people truly believe that there was only one true messiah, Jesus Christ, and you in this mind state having to ascend to the same heights as Jesus himself ascended to in order to gain your ascendancy or enlightenment is an impossible task filled with, great fear. The reality of the situation is that millions of people have transcended the limited ego in spiritual union with the Great Spirit and most of those people have not been punished or killed by the authorities of the day. Basically we are all 'God' as Jesus Christ himself realized this same truth. You are 'God', you are just asleep and don't realize it, you are waking but not yet awake, you are awake but just barely, or you are fully awake and are constantly awakening even more fully into yourself. Jesus Christ was a bit of a hothead and I think we can question just how enlightened he was, like many other younger people who have reached enlightenment without the wisdom that a person gains as they age. Regardless he was an important voice for spirituality in his day and still is two thousand years later partly because he was such a shit disturber like youth traditionally are. Jesus Christ was like a fiery rock and roll star who died before reaching his prime, like Jim Morrison, Bob Marley, or Jimmy Hendrix, etc., therefore living forever in myth or even I think more like Che Guevara who was a young man with such deep passion and courage that he lost his life thinking that he would travel the world setting off revolution and smashing the capitalist state in every country he visited. Enlightenment is a starting point for a new journey. Because becoming enlightened is such an incomparably awesome experience the newly enlightened young revolutionary born in a mostly unenlightened world can think like Jesus Christ or Che that the traditional systems of oppression will literally tremble and fall before them. Jesus Christ was a religious 'icon' for the blossoming Christian faith, he was the poster boy, he was never 'god's only son', maybe in myth, never in reality. Back to using the word God and remember there is no real reason to. Really something like Universal Unconditional Love Supreme Mind of the Infinite or something makes much more sense. Words are words only the definition matters. For all the misunderstanding involved what statement has as much power as the realization that:“I am God”. The Universe is material, the planet Earth is material but God is immaterial. The Universe itself was created when God first found self realization. When God was born and first thought “I am God”. Self realization. So the Universe is God's body? but the mind which is immaterial which exists because of the realization of itself which is only explained by the thought “I am””I am God””I am the light, the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, I am the Creator, I am that I am”And as absurdly simple as that sounds that thought, more than a thought, a realization, is the foundation the doorway to all metaphysical wisdom. It is in fact enlightenment itself. Enlightenment is the complete abandonment of the limited self into the higher self, the infinite which vibrates on the realization of itself which more than a thought even is a frequency that we by tuning into realize ourselves and begin to live a spiritual life. So do we as God play this game where we drop ourselves on this planet without any knowledge in an attempt to realize ourselves. Is this what amuses us as God? Do we sit in heaven bored and think I would like to come back to this
game of life and attempt to realize myself again against all improbability against all the infinite distractions of human life. And really would we appreciate the day without the night? Is it by not knowing that we finally see the greatness and the beauty of Love itself? Are we just addicted to the miracle, the pinnacle of all experience, the sunrise? Or is it instead as others say? Reincarnation? Can we spend countless lives seeking enlightenment each life getting closer, hopefully, through improving our karma enabling us to be born into situations that would be more conducive to moving even closer to nirvana to enlightenment. The problem with reincarnation and the problem with the concept of “God”as well is that it forces us to think of life abstractly. We can easily use the idea of reincarnation to justify people being born into poverty or war. We see that in India with the caste system. A horribly horribly unjust and extremely sick system of social stratification justified by yes spirituality, religion, and a wrong definition of “God”. So definition is important. In defining spirituality and enlightenment we must at all times have that definition correspond to, facilitating, the creation of love and goodness in this world. Not in bearing darkness and evil like we see in India with the caste system or in the United States with so called 'Christians' clamoring for war in Iran. Definition. This is the battlefield where we win or lose this war. Where we save ourselves and help save this world or we spend our entire lives locked in ignorance and misunderstanding. Many religious people have an extremely disconnected relationship with our planet. If God is so powerful why be concerned with something so material and limited as the planet Earth. God will choose to keep the planet save humanity make new planets or not or whatever willy nilly. And if the human soul is in fact eternal and everlasting then really, so what? Obviously there are things we may only ever be able to ponder philosophically. In working to awaken humanity to God consciousness we must present a logical definition of God that will make this planet and the welfare of its citizens a matter of the highest importance. Maybe we will all exist spiritually after the destruction of this planet? but it is still our sole duty, of course, to do everything we can to ensure that there is as little pain and suffering on this planet as possible and that means preserving this world for our children and all children and all other forms of life for that matter. So why is spirituality and God consciousness even important at all from a materialist's point of view? If spirituality is only distancing people from the problems at hand then atheism starts to look like a valid view point. Spirituality is precisely important because it stands ultimately opposed to materialism. True happiness is found within. The materialist causes huge environmental destruction by always falsely looking outside him or herself for happiness and by living strictly in the material world is able to ignore and rationalize the pain brought about by environmental destruction. Whereas enlightened people, and to a lesser degree 'Spiritual' people seeking enlightenment, live in a living world where all things alive think and love the materialist doesn't and can watch a whole forest destroyed without a single pang of regret. Anyone who has experienced enlightenment knows what a degraded and dark world the materialist lives in. Materialism is the degradation that threatens this planet not because of evil intent but because of ignorance. So we must agree that in reinventing Spirituality, as it obviously must be
reinvented, we must think long and hard about how we will design and order its framework precisely so that Spirituality itself serves the purpose, that it should, to create Love and goodness on this planet. Spirituality must make people feel more more and connected to this planet and its myriad forms of life not disconnected as most schools of spirituality and religion unfortunately have in one way or another. Do we have a starting point, a reference point maybe? Yes, we see that that answer lies in the Earth bound pagan religions. The shamanic traditions. In the voices of the spirits of the rivers and trees. So in embracing our true nature in being one within the God mind in returning to ourselves we hold the Earth above everything else. As it was in the beginning so it will be in the end. So in defining spirituality, enlightenment, and God consciousness in relation to human history I have come to the conclusion that we must return, in spirit anyways, to our most ancient traditions. We must see that it is our separation from, our ignorance towards that has caused all war strife alienation destruction etc. Yes it is God's fault that all this bad shit keeps happening to good people. And we as God can take full blame for all of the atrocities caused by incorrect living. There is an extremely large amount of karma on our collective shoulders including especially the slaughter and mistreatment of both people and animals equally. Wild and domesticated creatures. Yes technology is important. Renewable energy and green solutions both simple and scientifically complicated are of the utmost importance. I am not arguing totally for a return to our primordial roots, not physically entirely. A return to tribal roots as far as living locally and communally definitely, maybe seeing in the future something like ultra advanced solar tribes communicating telepathically with each other and the forces of nature spreading the seeds of life to barren corners of the universe and foreign galaxies? When we speak of a new age, the age of renewable energy, we speak of a need to rethink everything including our own spirituality. When we see ourselves as equal members when we reach the pinnacle of human thought we see each other within the true framework of God consciousness. Within one mind we lose the drive of ignorance to create strife and war in this world even through blindness and inaction. So in conclusion by the very definition of becoming God conscious we should not become more ignorant of the world but instead the opposite of that we should more fully feel the pain that our own collective ignorance has caused. We should seize this moment and become enlightened not just for ourselves but for the planet itself.
