The purpose of the following research is to let others acknowledge a controversial debate
in the educational system. This research also aims to question the readers perspective on
bilingual education. Are schools providing enough supplies for diverse students? In order to
understand the effect of bilingual education I have gather some information from professor and
educator Stephen Krashen, who discuss his perspective on bilingual education. Likewise, the
audience intended for this particular research are those who, consider bilingual education an
important element to increase a secondary language proficiency in students. Have you ever
wonder why some student have a harder time learning different subjects? The reason behind it
may be that they havent fully obtain the comprehension needed for that particular subject.
Consequently, the genre chosen for this researcher is evaluation. I chose to review and
evaluate professor Krashen work, to illustrate my personal perspective on bilingual education.
However, I also picked him and his work to portray the overall outcome of bilingual education.
Additionally, why bilingual education, is one of the many argumentive article that aim to
convince the audience that bilingual education is indeed an important element to united two
diverse cultures.
Furthermore, the appeals used in the following work primary included ethos, pathos and
logos. The used of ethos in this research is used to convince the readers that bilingual education
is an important method to increase the education for non-native English speakers. For example,
in the following research you will read about two individuals who succeeded in life without

bilingual education. However, Krashen argues that their personal experience differs from the rest.
On the other hand, my letter to editor is used as an example of pathos. I chose ethos to describe
my personal experience and how it may differ from other student situations. As Krashen argues
those who grow up in a region with great input in the secondary language learn to adapt to their
environment quicker. Subsequently, logos is used by Krashen to illustrate several studies done by
him and other research that concluded positive outcome of bilingual education. For instance, 60
-90 percent of people claim to support bilingual education. As a result, the reason why I picked
the ethos, pathos, and logos was to convey my personal opinion in this particular debate.
Additionally, the device incorporated in my work revolves around analysis. In order to express
my personal opinion I used analysis to review and evaluate Krashen work.
