NP Michelle
The member was taking Pradaxa 150 mg and Januvia 100 mg.
These are two brand-name medications that together were
costing the member $1,800 per month. He said his primary care
provider told him that based on his medical history and current
medical conditions there were not any suitable generics.
With he and his wife being on a fixed income, this was quite a
financial hardship. I suggested an application be made to the
PACE prescription program for low-income residents of
Pennsylvania and gave them the contact information.
A few days later, the members wife gave me a call. They were
accepted into the program! Now, they are paying $50 per month
for the two medications.
Do the math. They are saving $21,000 a year!
