impaired, departure from state of health, an alteration
of human body interrupting performance of vital
functions
Ecological perspective It is a maladjustment of the
human organism to the environment
Sociological perspective It is a social phenomenon,
occurring in all societies , defined and fought in terms of
particular cultural forces prevalent in the society.

Disease has spectrum i.e. spectrum of disease

2. Acute and Insidious
3. Carrier State i.e. outwardly healthy but able to
infect others
4. Same organism causing different manifestation
5. Different organism causing same manifestations
6. Course of disease short and prolonged

recovery, disability or death of the host
Disease: is a physiological / psychological
dysfunction
Illness: a subjective state of the person who feels
aware of not being well
Sickness: a state of social dysfunction i.e. a role
that the individual assumes when ill
