Auctions
EEX held auctions last Thursday, Friday & Mon,
Tuesday & Wednesday. Auction prices were
8.40, 8.45, 8.35 & 8.28 respectively. The
cover ratios for the above auctions were 3.70, 2.03,
4.33 & 3.46 respectively. (Cover Ratio = Number
of bids/Auction Volume)

Renewables
Though a record 130 GW of new renewable
capacity was installed in 2014, all eyes stay on
carbon cuts in the power sector. The US Clean
Power Plan and Chinas 2017 launch of carbon
trading will help, however, investment of $13.5
trillion in low-carbon technologies would be
needed until 2030 to put a lid on emissions growth
rate at around 5% per year, the International
Energy Agencys (IEA) said when assessing policy
pledges in the run-up to COP21.

EUETS Carbon Market Reforms

In Luxembourg, environment ministers cited
concerns with regard to three key aspects of the
proposed carbon market reforms, including the
proposals level of ambition and the issue of
climate finance; the rules for free allocation
allowances and measures to address the risk of
carbon leakage; and funding mechanisms for
innovation and modernisation of the energy sector.
