Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin was a composer and pianist.

Although
he studied at the Moscow Conservatoire, he failed to graduate in composition
following a dispute with one of his tutors. Scriabin's early work is
characterised by a style that is influenced by Chopin; later in his career,
Scriabin developed a unique musical language all of his own, and his new
style tied in with his ideals and beliefs of the mystic and superior being. The
Nocturne for Left-Hand (from Prelude and Nocturne for Left-Hand Op.9)
was composed in 1894, during his early lifetime. These two pieces show a
unique outpouring of creativity in a smaller scale and the listeners could
hardly sense that they were written for one hand. In the second piece, the
nocturne portrays beautiful melody and harmonic richness. It is, perhaps
unsurprisingly given the nature of the piece, one Scriabins more unknown
works.
