Agenda for fifth Partnership Meeting

Tomar 11th-15th November 2015

Review since last meeting in Kosice:
 Nadine coordinating nature trail work
 How about song and music?
 Banners dispatched to Tomar
 The main themes of our project - climate change, democracy and citizenship,
migration and urban growth, and sustainability - are also the most relevent and
pressing themes globally! We have opportunities to address these issues with
our pupils!!!
Upcoming works:
Partnership Newsletter - Democracy and Citizenship
Each country will send Nikos a contribution about the module. Send one or two articles, 4-5 photos,
500 words. Deadline 10th of December.
Collaborative activity for this module. This activity will pose 6-10 questions for parents to answer.
Carlos proposed to make a set of questions and Maria wishes one or two open questions.
eTwinning - we have not applied this year for quality labels but next year we should apply for QL for
main project and nature trail. We are not under time pressure for this!
Scratch Programming – Schools should be engaging in scratch. Our school has purchased 10 ipads
with Erasmus funding.
Online Book –Carlos suggests should include an interim and final report, pupils reflections from
each country, a few particular aspects of local works, general reflections on the two years’ work from
each country and the impact and benefit for each school. Brendan will reflect on the modules of work.
Deadline is by the time of the Barcelona-meeting and the launching is in Stockholm in May.

Music for the project- Anna sang the “Erasmus” song she made. All countries will contribute to the
song by recording two lines of a verse on video. These individual videos of pupils singing in mother
language will be put together to form one collaborative video. We also decided to make a video
recording and send it to Anna by the end of March. Anna will send you all the needed information
about how to do it, along with lyrics, notes, recordings and sing-along backgrounds.
Migration and urban growth These are huge issues and demanding increasing resources! There is
increasing resistance to the settlement of refugees! Our project has the possibility of addressing these
issues at a micro- level

Newsletter
Nikos has created a collaborative newsletter about sustainability and now
he is compiling a similar one about Democracy and Citizenship. It should
be about 500 words with a few photos. He wants the text and pictures
December 10th at the latest.
Next topic will be migration, end of March will be deadline this time, same
concept, something the students have done.
In Barcelona we will decide topic for the last newsletter.
Collaborative work with parents
Carlos proposes a collaborative work. The parents will have 6-10 questions
to answer.
For example; When there is an election do you vote? Do you follow the
news about the Parliament? Have you ever lobbied your M P? Apart from
voting, in which of the following ways do you use your political process;
demonstration, protest, lobbying, media or partition. Tick boxes for
answers.
Do you belong to any of the following associations? -,-,-, If so, have you
become actively involved? Is it a simple membership or are you already
participating in any board?
In what ways can you contribute to your community or society?

Maybe ask 30 parents from school, spread them among those that could
participate and those we know would answer.
If we hand it out to 30 parents and just half of them will answer that is
fine, it's also a result. The best way would be to use paper, the
coordinators could do the first presentation of results. Then we could send
data to Carlos to compare the 8 different results, one from each school
and one collaborative one. We could compare the schools, not the
countries. Give the parents the questionnaire before Christmas. Before
January 31st we want the answers from parents.

eTwinning
Six criteria are used to evaluate projects for Quality Label (QL). And
etwinning projects can be linked to external sources of work such as
websites for evaluation.
We are registered for Global Citizenship and Going Wild (Nature trail).
Brendan suggests that we apply for QL for both projects.
Going Wild simply involves the creation of online nature trails for each
school. Brendan suggests that we write about the process involved in the
creation of the nature trails, and highlight the work of the pupils. We
should document this process in Going Wild Twinspace. Nadine wants us
to send a picture from the school yard and a picture of a plant with a text.
She will create an international online nature trail, possibly with Windows
Movie Maker.
Scratch Coding and workshops
Ireland used money from a fund to buy IPads for using Scratch. Fifth
classes will start working with it. We have had two workshops, one in
Bielefeld and one in Galway and it is important to show in the project that
we have benefitted from the workshops. Document something from every
country what they have done from Scratch and Art and what impact it has
had. Put the results on our website.
The idea with the workshops is that the teachers come back to schools
and teach the colleagues and disseminate.
Online book

Carlos suggests it should include an interim and final report, pupils reflections
from each country, a few particular aspects of local works, general reflections on
the two years’ work from each country and the impact and benefit for each
school. Brendan will reflect on the modules of work. Deadline is by the time of
the Barcelona-meeting and the launching is in Stockholm in May.

Music

All countries will contribute two lines to the song composed by Anna. This lines
will be put on video. By 10th of March Anna wants to have the verses and the
video. She will create collaborative video.

Navigation on website
Nadine proposed that we improve the way that we navigate
between the items in Weebly. Her suggestions were accepted
Migration
Marina tells us about the project Greece has worked with about the
migration problem. After the meeting in Kosice Olga started the project,
Human rights of children. She started a seminar with Cyprus, with the
main issue being migration crises . She has also started different actions
at school with the students. They have been sending food and clothes to
Skopje. Everything is in process but after Christmas she will have some
results.
Ireland suggested that we use the time before Christmas to arrange
conferences between countries featuring the singing Christmas songs.
