Cell Culture Technician

Reports to

Director of Production

Job purpose
The role of the cell culture technician is to grow and maintain healthy cell cultures
across a variety of cell lines for antibody production. These antibodies are used for
production of various product lines.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Scale-up and maintenance of multiple cell lines
a. Wake up frozen stock cells
b. Passage cell lines for inoculation of bioreactors
2. Media Preparation
a. Bulk preparation of several media solutions using aseptic technique
3. Harvest of supernatant & Subculturing
a. Collect supernatant containing antibody for purification
b. Split cells accordingly based on viability
4. Antibody purification
a. Purify desired antibody via column chromatography
5. Quantification/Qualification of Antibody
a. Perform BCA assay and SDS-PAGE analysis to determine quality of
antibody
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience working in a lab, with basic lab skill knowledge (pipetting,
dilutions, titrations, etc)
Ability to perform minor troubleshooting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired qualifications:
Experience in an ISO 14971, ISO 13485, and/or FDA regulated environment
At least 1 year in a cell culture setting
