Perceived susceptibility-The person believes that he or she is at risk of developing


Asthma.
Perceived severity-The person believes that the risk is serious and the
consequences of developing the Asthma are undesirable.
Perceived benefits-The person believes that the risk will be reduced by a specific
behavior change.
Perceived barriers-The person believes that barriers to the behavior change can be
overcome and managed.
Cues to action-Things that trigger the person to make the change in behaviour.
eg., pamphlets, mass media, health fair,and newspaper article.
Self efficacy-The confidence the individual has in carrying out the recommended
actions and maintaining them.
