Although there continues to be changes in teaching assignments and in teaching responsibilities, the good news is, no one is leaving Midnapore School. Last November 30, 2015, we received financial support to add a full time teacher to further our school’s goal of improving student achievement as outlined in our school development plan. At that time I was pleased to announce that Mrs. Nicole Hoye had accepted the position of Lead Teacher for this innovative work. With the departure of Mrs. Taylor in December, Mrs. Hoye assumed the role of Acting Assistant Principal and now has officially been appointed the Assistant Principal of Midnapore School. Mrs. Hoye will continue in her role as Lead Teacher, where she will plan, model and work alongside teachers to ensure success for students. Mrs. Krithia Chandra will also share the work of Lead Teacher, and will work collaboratively with Mrs. Hoye, and all of the staff and students of Midnapore School. The specific strategies of what Mrs. Hoye and Mrs. Chandra will be working on are identified in our school’s development plan. Mrs. Hoye will focus her Lead Teacher position in the areas of Grades 3-6 Literacy and Grade 6 Math. Mrs. Chandra will focus her Lead Teacher position in Grades K-6, with a strong focus on expanding Math and Science skills through the designing of rich, engaging tasks. Mrs. Chandra will continue in her role as the Learning Commons teacher, and will be working alongside teachers and students on engaging project based assignments. Mrs. Rhea Qi will assume the role of Learning Leader, and will continue teaching grade 1 Mrs. Crystal Swords’ teaching position has been increased to a full time Literacy Support position. She will be working to support early literacy skills for all students in grades K-2, and will support grades 3-6 students through math intervention groups. Ms. DanLing will assume a full time teaching assignment, teaching the students in both English and in Mandarin, in the Kindergarten Mandarin Bilingual program Change is sometimes difficult to understand, however it is a necessity if we are to move forward in providing the best learning opportunities for our students. We are fortunate to have so many talented and exceptional teachers and support staff working with our Midnapore students. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact me. Your continued support and understanding is always appreciated. Yours truly, Jean Hugill Jean Hugill Principal
