20. Please tell us one thing St. Peter Claver Catholic Church could do to make
this parish even better?
All of the comments were read and reviewed. The Comments are summarized
below:
Physical Plant: Suggestions were made that we improve the sound system and
lighting, and refurbish the pews.
Communication : Suggestions were made that we work to improve
communication, welcome newcomers, email events, and publish the bulletin
sooner and that the bulletin format be re-evaluated and updated. Ideas for
the bulletin included an upcoming events page for the next week and a
calendar for the upcoming month. Requests were made for parish wide
emails and access to the friars musings online and an annual financial
report.
Liturgy : Overall parishioners are happy with the liturgy. Suggestions included:
adding nametags, offering more training for lectors and altar servers, offering
retreats. Concerns were raised regarding the praying of the rosary in the
front of the church immediately before Mass. This location was considered a
distraction to others trying to pray quietly.
Music: Most people are happy with the music. Some wanted to update the
music at the Masses and others wanted to add back some of the spiritual
songs. Concerns were raised regarding the music at the 5:30 Mass. We will
work to update the music parish-wide, add some of the spiritual praise and

worship songs back and re-evaluate the music at the 5:30 Mass.
Church Groups : Revitalize the hospitality group, increase opportunities to get to
know each other, add a newcomers ministry and increase the number of
activities for young families, adults, and children. Encourage unity between
groups and offer opportunities to get involved with church organizations and
programs.
Service Organizations : Offer more opportunities to volunteer, publish
opportunities to volunteer and make it easier to volunteer via the website
and bulletin. Highlight ministries regularly to increase participation. Serve
the local community. Be bridge builders!
