Breaking - New Tax Credit Allowances for the HVAC Industry!

There are a few basic truths to life, especially in this country. They hold more
importance depending on who you ask,
and what their beliefs are compared to
your own. As Benjamin Franklin said,
there are only two things certain in life:
death and taxes. Smart man, he was. Not
too many arguments can be made against
his statement.

The Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2015

(H.R. 2029), extends the 25C tax credits
for highly efficient HVAC equipment that
expired at the end of 2014.
Specifically, this applies to equipment
placed in service after December 31, 2014
through December 31, 2016.

Oh yeah, tax time looms. Dont depend

solely on me, but I think I read instead of
April 15th, we have until Monday, April
18, 2016 to file our 2015 return; at least to
the Federal Government.

Please note that the maximum 25C tax

credit that can be claimed by a taxpayer
for all qualified energy efficiency improvements made in 2011 through 2016
is $500. Qualified equipment includes
HVAC products with the minimum efficiencies shown in the table below.

OK. Lets shake off that dreary thought
process and ask yourself this simple question when preparing your taxes or gathering your info to farm the task off to your
preparer. Did you replace a furnace, air
conditioner, high efficiency boiler, or add
an energy efficient blower motor to your
equipment? If you did and it meets the
minimum requirement(s) below you are
entitled to take a credit. The breakdown is
as follows:
95% + AFUE gas fired Furnace

$ 150.00

95% + AFUE gas fired Boiler

$ 150.00

Air Conditioners or Heat Pumps $ 300.00

of SEER rates:
>= 16.0 SEER
>= 13.0 EER

check with your accountant about the specifics, especially when it comes to things
like amending your taxes or checking if

of credit before. Your specific situation
may not be eligible for this bonus, but I
dont see any harm in checking right?
The credit extends as far as December
31, 2016 if you have not previously taken
advantage of any credit offers. There are

Healthy Crab Meat Pasta
The first Valentines day after our son was born my wife and I decided
that we would just celebrate Valentines day as a family. So every
year we have made this same crab pasta as a fun way to just hang
out as opposed to worrying about trying to go out. It always seems to be a busy time of year
for not only the restaurants, but for us as well. So if you are looking for an at home alternative
this Valentines day give this quick and easy pasta dish a shot.

Ingredients:

Directions:

2 tablespoons Canola Oil

2 Fresno Chilis finely chopped (spicy)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup dry white wine
1 lbs. jumbo lump crab meat, picked
over
1 lbs. spaghetti, cooked al dente,
drained, 1 cup of pasta water reserved
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh
flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon finely chopped dill
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh mint
2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest
Extra-virgin olive oil
Salt & freshly ground pepper

Heat the canola oil in a large high-sided

saute pan over medium heat. Add the chiles
and garlic and cook until soft and the garlic
is pale golden brown. Add the wine and cook
until reduced. Add the crab and cook until
just heated through.
Add the pasta and some of the reserve cooking water to the pan and cook for another
minute. Stir in the parsley, dill, mint, lemon
zest. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt
and pepper.

OK. This is a column about

admissions. No, not the college
kind. More the confessional type.
The first is an admission of my
confusion. What the heck season
is it? This winter (?) weather has
been weird. I never know if I need
to be ready to brave the elements
and help out at the office, or
if it is gonna be raining and darn
near 40 degrees out there. But
who am I to complain? I know I
want to go outside regardless of
the weather. With one exception:
that the back yard does NOT
continue to multitask as a skating
rink! I do not have skates nor
the ability to hit the ice like those
Blackhawks. Man, have they been
great to watch lately!
Yes, dogs do notice what is
playing on the TV. This leads to

Toms Two Cents

The article about Tax Credit Allowances on the first page referenced Benjamin Franklin, and when reading about
him, made me realize he was the U.S
.version of Leonardo Da Vinci. Too
bad his birthday wasnt in February
as that fact would have made a great
segway into my article here. Instead,
Ill have to make the stretch and say
Im including Franklins story because
of February having Valentines Day,
and his version of the Golden Rule/
Secrets to Success relates to one of his
definitions of love. It goes something
like this:
There was a man who died and was
being taken to heaven by angels. But
first, they wanted to show him hell
(just for the hell of it, I guess).
The angels took him to a place where
there was a great bowl, so great, that
it was as big as a lake. The bowl was

filled with a nutritious stew. All the

way around the sides of this bowl were
people: emaciated, starving, miserable people. These people had spoons
to eat with that were long enough to
reach the shore they were on about
12 feet away. The trouble was, while
they could scoop up the stew into the
spoon, those were so long the stew fell
off before they could get it into their
mouths. So they continued to suffer
their hunger and misery.
