Robin Williams

One of the most popular comedians of the twentieth century, Williams has won numerous
awards, including an Oscar, six Golden Gloves, and a Screen Actors Guild award. His film credits
include Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), and
Good Will Hunting (1997). He is known for his extraordinary improvisational skills and spot-on
impersonations. Not long ago, Williams was voted thirteenth on Comedy Central Presents: 100
Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time. Raised in a parish in suburban Detroit, Williams has never
been timid about making fun of his WASP roots. “I’m an Episcopalian,” he once said, “It’s
Catholic Lite – same rituals, half the guilt.” Williams also came up with the oft-quoted “Top Ten
Reasons to Be An Episcopalian.”
