unlike any since the Great Depression.
• Unprecedented levels of transparency and
accountability will allow you to know how, when,
and where your tax dollars are being spent.
• Built-in measures to root out waste, inefficiency,
and unnecessary spending will be provided.

Seeking Opportunities

Objective: To clearly communicate how to spend stimulus funds and what
ongoing specific progress is underway. A variety of communications tools and
resources will be used for effective community outreach.

Purpose:

To inform Citrus, Levy, and Marion Counties unemployed residents of the three
million plus dollars available for education and training under the Recovery Act.

To inform youth ages from 14 – 24 age of the funding available for summer
training programs.

To the general public about the Green Jobs Initiative.

Media Channels/Outlets: The Media will help inform citizens about
stimulus resources available for the unemployed and area youth.

Traditional Outlets: Print (local press), TV, Radio through aggressive
public relations

New Outlets: Internet, i.e. blogs, and cell phone texting (includes
Internet access, etc.)

Local Recovery Website: Provide Local Recovery Website linked
with local Workforce Connection website - CLMrecovery.com

Education: Scholarships through Stimulus Funds

Training: Career Launch for Professionals Workshops, Stimulus
Expo, Job Fairs, and Local/Neighborhood Community Centers

Website Information

Education: Explain the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
and how it will help local citizens in Citrus, Levy and Marion Counties
in Florida.

Transparency: Show how, when, and where the money is spent in
local area.

Accountability: Provide data that will allow citizens to evaluate the
Act’s progress and provide feedback.

Weekly updates, blog postings, podcasts, videos, downloadable
documents, such as the Rapid Guide to Layoff Survival, news
updates and social networking such as Facebook and Twitter.
Sharing tools to link and share information on website will be provides
for visitors. YouTube site with video to educate and inform.

agencies implement the Recovery Act.
• Search, monitor and review grant opportunities

Workforce Connection, the local organization that
provides services to employers and job seekers,
received $3,267,204 in funding from the the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

• Provide scholarships and support
• Serve adults and dislocated workers (workers who have
lost their jobs due to a business/plant closure or layoff).

Youth Services $ 918,869
• Provide summer employment opportunities for
disadvantaged youth, ages 14 to 24, work
experience, on-the-job training, and short-term
training and longer term occupational training.
• Paid at Florida’s minimum wage, currently $7.21
per hour. Expected to range from 20 to 30 hours
per week.

• Projections show that green jobs are expanding
