Introduction

Imagine everyday coming home from school, thinking the day is finally over and
you're on your phone and you receive a text message. It's a random caller saying
bad stuff about you. You think it's only one time well you're wrong. I continues to
haunt you every single day. CyberBullying is a problem that affects
children/teenagers every single day. Many people have unfortunately struggled
with this issue. In this article, I will look closely at this problem and the people who
help. First, I will describe the facts of CyberBullying. Then, I will introduce why
people CyberBully. After that I will state my story about CyberBullying and why I
chose It as a topic. Also, I will introduce a teen activist and explain how they help
the problem. Finally, I will show how someone can prevent CyberBullying. My
article will show that CyberBullying is a serious topic and it needs to be stopped.

Jacobs Story

A boy named Jacob was a freshman in highschool. The article

stated that Jacob was a varsity athlete. He got really good grades,
he was very outgoing and friendly, he stood up for the people he
cared about, and he was shorter than the average person. Jacob
was the kind of kid any parent would want. One of Jacobs best
friends Megan was frequently bullied because of the way she looks.
One day Megan was walking to class on an average school
wednesday and a group of boy sophomores had her cornered in the
hallway and were shoving, slapping, mocking, and punching her. The boys were
more motivated to do so because they were around all their friends. Jacob went to
inform a teacher as soon as he saw the bullying. He didn't even know it was Megan
at the time. When Jacob was in his sophomore year he finally announced that he
was a homosexual to his parents. It didn't take the school that long to find out after
he announced it to his parents. Jacob started to get bullied about him being a
homosexual. After his sophomore year Jacob couldn't take all the bullying anymore.
Jacob committed suicide. Megan was devastated when she found out. Noah Baron

Facts About CyberBullying

Cyber Bullying is a major problem. Almost 43% of kids have

been bullied online and 25% had it happen more than once.
This means that almost half of the kids in the world have been
cyberbullied. What happens with the other 75% of kids that the
bullying stopped? 81% of people say its a lot easier to be
Cyberbullied than to be Bullied. This is probably because
they're not bullying on anyone's property and its harder to
catch someone doing it. Only 10% of kids would tell a parent or
adult about them being
cyberbullied. This is probably
because the bully threatened
them or they're just scared to
speak up. Why wouldn't they
want to tell someone
anyways? 2/9 victims think
about committing suicide
(suicide = . That's about 24% of
kids out of 100%. Does it
depend on cyberbullying or
bullying. 58% of kids admit
someone has said mean things
to them online. Parents
should be on top of all of their devices
and making sure that nothing like that
is happening. 40% of kids say that if
they have been cyberbullied it has
happened more than once. Would
any 8 of them tell an adult.

Why people CyberBully?

People that bully/cyberbully are usually motivated by anger,
revenge or frustration. Bullying isn't the best way to release
anger because you're hurting someone else. Many people
bully/cyberbully to get a reaction, for a good laughs or

maybe they just didn't have a great day and they don't think before typing. This
means not all people bully because they are mean its just because of maybe how
someone else treated them. But, on the other hand some people might bully just
for their ego, so they can become cool. That means that peoples lives are being
ruined just for someone else's ego. Sometimes bullies don't even have a reason to
bully, there just doing it for entertainment or just because they're bored and have
too much time on their hands. People shouldn't ruin other people's lives for
entertainment, they can do plenty of different things.

Why I chose this Topic

I chose this bullying/cyberbullying topic for many reasons. One
reason is because every single year I learn about
bullying/cyberbullying in at least one class ever since the 4th grade
and this problem hasn't been decreasing, If anything this problem has
been increasing with cyberbullying because of all the new
technology coming out. No one has been doing anything to stop the
bully/cyberbullying. I don't expect to completely stop this problem
but at least help. Another reason is I see bullying happen every day.
Whether it's verbal bullying or even physical bullying I always try to
pretend i don't see it or even just ignore it. I want to change that. I
want to be the person to speak up and tell someone about the bullying
to stop it.

How to prevent cyberbullying

If a bully does say

mean things to you
or threatens aka
bullying you online,
make sure to save all
of the post or
messages of the
bullying by taking
screenshots, or

photos on your smartphone. You can show an adult or even the police the photos
of the bullying happening. Make sure to always tell someone if you are getting
bullied. kids worry that telling an adult will make the harassment (the act or an
instance of
harassing
, or disturbing, pestering, or troubling repeatedly;
persecution)worse if the bully finds out or that teachers and parents won't be able
to do anything to stop the abuse. Adults can help significantly or even stop the
bullying completely if you inform them. If the bully engages you for the first time,
make sure that you don't engage. The goal for the bully is to is to goad his or
her victim into anger, in effect getting to the target and make him or her
acknowledge ridiculous claims or malicious statements. That could lead to worse
things if he or her starts to bully you and that could lead to worse things.

Conclusion
Someday, I hope that children all over the world aren't being
bullied/cyberbullying. After writing this article my life choices has changed. From
now on if I see this issue happening I will speak up and try to stop it and I will let
adults know so they can help the problem. Understanding the horrible conditions in
which many peoples lives are disturbed (agitated or distressed; disrupted) every
single day. I hope with every paragraph that you read the thought of bullying/
cyberbullying can get you to help and get rid of it. With our help and awareness, we
can make a difference.
