DEFINITION:
Assessment is a continuous planned process
of identifying, gathering and interpreting
information about the performance of learners.
FOUR STEPS TO CONSIDER:
i. Generating and collecting evidence of
achievement
ii.Evaluating evidence
iii.Recording the findings
iv.Use information to understand the learners
development in order to assist

INSTRUCTIONS
Study the exemplar of the Teaching Plan for Grade 6 HL (pp. 73 87) and its
accompanying Programme of Assessment (pp. 94 - 97) as provided.
Check how the Formal Assessment Tasks indicated in the Programme of
Assessment reflect the:
o nature of task
o content of task
o timing of task (Groups 1 5)
Give advice on how the Language Programme of Assessment together with
programmes of assessment of other subjects could be used to develop a
School Assessment Plan (Groups 6-9)
