To the Senior Portfolio Committee:
My name is Priscilla Diaz, and the purpose of this letter is to introduce my senior portfolio to the
senior portfolio committee. I hope to gain approval of my senior portfolio as well, as it is the first step to
being able to obtain my graduation diploma. Once this is achieved, I will be able to move onto my postsecondary education, and pursue a career in dental hygiene.
The first reason that I feel I am qualified to graduate from Buckingham Charter Magnet High
School, is because I feel that I have acquired all of the necessary requirements that are expected of any
senior at Buckingham. For example, during these past four years, I have learned to be more social and
communicative with my teachers and classmates. This helped me in my employment, as well as in my
education. I have also increased my determination to do well in school, improving my grade point average
every year. This has been due to the teachers and staff at Buckingham that continually motivate all of the
students. Another way that this school has helped me is in finding a career path. When I first arrived at
Buckingham, I can honestly recall that I had not the slightest idea of what I wanted to study after high
school. However, because of the BCAL program, I was moved to independently start taking general
education college classes. Then, with the four year plan, I was encouraged to seriously plan my future.
Lastly, with projects in different classes such as the career project, I was able to understand what I truly
wanted to do. As stated above, this high school aided me in choosing a career path in dental hygiene.
My plans after graduating high school are very simple. I plan on living with my parents for a few
years while going to college and, in the first semester after graduating, I plan on finishing the
prerequisites for the Dental Hygiene program in Sacramento. After that, I hope to be accepted into this
program, and graduate after two years. I will then receive an associates degree in science, and after taking
a licensing exam, I will become a certified dental hygienist. After, I plan on working part time and then
continue being a full-time evangelizer. My main goal is to be able to economically sustain myself and
dedicate the rest of my time to show others what the Bible really teaches.
In conclusion, I would just like to thank Buckingham and all other friends and family, that have
helped me advance in life and get to the place where I am now. I really look forward to my next chapter in
life, and I anticipate the day of my graduation. I await the approval of my senior portfolio, as I set forth to
achieve greater things. If I am able to obtain this approval, I will be very proud to be a hard working
graduate from an amazing school like Buckingham.
