Fixed agenda Politics included at every step to spice up things. lack of scrutiny. New-age journalists judge every subject under the sun and occasionally take themselves a bit too seriously. Commercial imperative of the media dictates programming patterns.

POWER PLAY 
   

Journalism was an oligopoly. Choice of news providers was limited. No open debates and discussions. This oligopolistic market allowed journalist to ignore the business side of their profession. Journalistic conflict of interest grew to include any intrusion of commercial considerations into the editorial process.

The new media world   

Today there is a veritable news traffic jam on TV screens across the country. The result has been that the slices of the audience pie for each channel have gotten smaller . The new competition is not just within traditional media -- it is from new sources of news, such as the Internet, portable e-mail devices like Blackberries, cell phones and iPods. Now the audience is in control

Social media has become the new buzzword, and this conference dealt in depth with this topic. According to Badar Khushnood ± Country RepresentativeGoogle Pakistan. He showed a survey named Morgan Stanley Survey which shows Pakistan on the 5th top spot for internet usage in the entire world ± one spot ahead of India! TeethMaestro ± a blogger from Karachi who is a doctor and runs the Alvi Dental Hospital. He was voted the best political blogger of Asia. His blog is followed by CNN, Guardian and co, and journalists both foreign and local.

BLOG FEATURES 

This blog has news feed, discussions about recent advertisements, anchors, talk shows and latest happenings.

Code of conduct   

A free, mature media needs to assist in this process for media awareness. Thus emerges the urgent need for self-regulation, codes of conduct and internal accountability . TV viewers, want a free media that is equally responsible; and challenges the stereotype and half-truth instead of reinforcing it.
