Updated Permit Application
Packets Are Now Available

March 15 is the deadline to apply for Montana’s 2016
deer and elk hunting permits. An updated and easy-touse 10-page application packet is available online at fwp.
mt.gov. Paper applications are also available from most
license providers and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
offices.
All deer and elk regulations became final at
February’s Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting.
Many quotas in the first edition of the Permit Application
Packet were listed as pending commission approval.
Those quotas have been adopted. Hard copies of the
Permit Application Packets are available at FWP offices.
New to this year’s March 15 application packet will
be antlerless elk permits in select hunting districts in FWP
regions 2 and 3. These permits will allow a general elk
license holder the opportunity of harvesting an antlerless
elk. While this is not a permit for a second animal, it
expands a permit holder’s opportunity with a general
season elk license. Holders of the antlerless permits are
reminded they cannot, in most instances, use their general
license for an antlered elk in the same district in which the
permit is valid. Antlerless elk permit holders can also still
apply for an elk B license by the deadline June 1.

Applicants will need a deer or elk license in order
to apply for a special permit. Like the bull elk and buck
deer permits, the application deadline for antlerless elk
permits is also March 15.

The Hospital Guild Scholarship application is now
available. The scholarship is for those
interested in the medical field. Applications are available at FMDH.org.-Guild scholarship link. The completed applications are due back by

We would like to THANK the businesses in the area
for their participation and donations that helped to
make our scholarship fundraising a
success. It made our year fun and exciting.

Are you having your septic tank pumped by a
licensed septic pumper?
Many people have asked for a list of licensed septic pumpers.
In Valley County this question arises more often than a person
thinks. The State of Montana DEQ requires that pumpers have a
current state-issued septic tank pumper license before they can
legally pump septic systems. If you call a septic pumper, you need
to make sure they are licensed in your county.
Below is a list of the septic pumpers with a current state-issued
license that serve Valley County:

Fewer Pumping ~ Glasgow
Scott’s Services ~ Wolf Point
E&A Vac. ~ Poplar
P.D. Septic LLC ~ Whitewater
Doorbust’n Portables & Septic Service, LLC ~ Sidney

Championship note from the Coach

A deal’s a deal!

Squirts’ Coach Kent Hubbard agreed to his team’s
request that if they won the state championship,
they’d get to shave his big ol’ beard... win they did
followed by them all getting a crack with the clippers
yesterday afternoon at the Valley Event Center.

Hi, my name is Kent Hubbard, the head coach of the
Glasgow Ice Dawgs Squirt team, and I am going to try to
explain how the weekend of our state tournament went. We
had three games that we won that put us in the semi final game
against Missoula at 8:45 Sunday morning. This game was huge
as it determined if we got to play in the championship game,
and it was indeed a tough one.

The kids went in with all the heart they had to give. It was
a close contest in all three periods and was all tied up until the
last 2:00 minutes left in regulation when Missoula got one in
on us. Coach Hunter and myself took a time out to tell the kids
it is not the time to give up; they have worked too hard to give
it up now. The kids were showing a lot of emotion so they went
back to the ice with all the heart they had to give and it showed
because with 13 seconds left on the clock the Ice Dawgs were
able to get a goal shoved in the net. So we went into overtime
with 5:00 minutes on the clock. Neither team scored, putting
us into double overtime. Shortly into double overtime we got
a penalty. So the kids showed even more heart and never gave
up. With 3:00 minutes left in double OT they crashed the net
to score the winning goal with the score being 5-4.

So now we are in the championship game with Havre 2
and we told the kids that it was their game they worked their
butts off for and not to give up. Havre put up one heck of a fight.
It was not an easy game the kids were tired, this would be there
5th game of the weekend. The kids never let off and showed a
lot of heart in this game. I’ve never seen a group of kids that
wanted something so bad in there life that they just never gave
up. This game went back and fourth as we were up 6-5 in the
start of the 3rd period. The team
played great defense to let hardly
any shots on goal along with Havre
putting on some great defense.
There was 1:35 left in the game
and we received another penalty.
But that did not discourage the
kids, they just played harder. They
kept icing the puck to kill time
and took the game in control to go
ahead and win the Division B state
championship.
Myself, Coach Mike Hunter
and Coach Del Hansen have
never been so proud of a group
of kids. They played hard, left it
all on the ice, showed heart that
no one ever knew a kid had so
much of, and won it with so much
accomplishment. They deserved it
and had so much fun.
