The very idea of single-parent family has long been a controversial debate

whether woman or man is a better parent. To decide this matter, both sides have to be
taken into consideration.
The importance of a mother’s role can never be overemphasized since a woman is
biologically engineered for parenting tasks. Whenever a kid encounters a problem, a
woman remains to be seen as a good friend simply because she will understand her child
better than man do. However, using mostly feeling, a mother has the tendency to lack of
discipline.
On the other hand, a father in a family should be seen as an essential figure as he
supports financial aspect. Families losing their fathers may practically be at a
disadvantage for men are closely associated with the work to fulfill the families’ daily
need. Nonetheless, a father usually will spend most of his time at the office thereby
having less time to spend with his children.
Given the above points, I concern that both roles are crucial parts of a family:
mother, in nurturing the children, deals with mentally matters while father, the head of the
family, is suitable for physical matters. Hence, I personally cannot take a side considering
the effects that may happen if one is missing.
To sum up, being equally important, a mother or a father in the issue of a loneparent family cannot be validly concluded owing to the different respects each role must
be involved.
