RLO Usability Test

Delivering Effective Feedback
Scope
This Usability Test will be carried out on a single RLO: Training for
Trainers Module 3: Delivering Effective Feedback
Purpose
The primary purposes of this test are to check that the RLO contains
sufficient navigation for users, and that the scoring logic and
functions are correct. Additionally, the look, feel and flow of the
module will be assessed.
Location & Equipment
The test will be carried out remotely on the user’s own computer.
Sessions
It is estimated that the Usability Test will take 30 minutes (including
note-taking time)
Participants
The test will be completed by one user. This user will be a fellow
classmate who is also using Adobe Captivate to produce an RLO.
Scenarios
The user will be asked to complete the RLO two times to answer all
the questions provided. First, the user will be asked to complete a
linear run-through of the module. Next they will be asked to
complete the module but to repeat the feedback scenario and quiz
multiple times using the designated navigation buttons.
Metrics
There will be specific questions provided for the test user to
complete following each run through of the RLO. They will also be
asked to record how long the first run-through takes.

RLO Usability Test Form
Thank you for completing this Usability Test. First, please download and
open the RLO and ensure that you have a stopwatch on hand.
You will be asked to complete the RLO twice. Each run has specific
instructions so please read them carefully. After each run, please answer
the questions provided.
Test 1:
Instructions
 Run through the module once without using the Try Again options.
 Use a stopwatch to time the module from start to completion.
 The last slide’s header will either read You scored 100% or Quiz

Instructions
 Run through the module again. You do not need to time it this time.
 This time please repeat the giving feedback scenario slides and the
quiz at least two times each using the Try Again buttons.
 There are 3 possible outcomes for the scenario, depending on your
choices.
 If you score 100% on the quiz, no option to try again will be available.
