Exhibit III-C Page 1 CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION AND ORDER NO. 09-10-20 APPROVING 2010 -2011 SALARY SCHEDULES FOR TEACHERS Administration is presenting teacher salary schedules with a 2 % average salary increase for 2010-2011 to meet the following goals: - Approve a 2010-2011 Teacher Salary Schedule prior to the end of the 2009- 2010 school year to improve retention - Use 2% new money to fund teacher pay raises, - Keep the ISD in the top five of area districts in every pay cell Administration is requesting the Board approve the schedules for 2010-2011 in the best interests of the District. Other salary schedules will be presented no later than the May 17" Board Meeting. Features of a 2% Average Salary Increase Bachelors: - Starting salary of $ 49,200; Maximum salary of $69,185. - Salary increase ranges from $900 to $1356 in actual dollars - Salary increase ranges from 1.86% to 2.07% - Cost: $1,827,198 Masters: - Starting salary of $50,850; Maximum salary of $71,446 - Salary increase ranges from $900 to $1401 in actual dollars Salary increase ranges from 1.80% to 2.00% - Difference from Bachelors ranges from $1650 to $2679 - Cost: $ 628,385 Total cost of 2% average salary increase for teachers is approximately $2,455,583. ‘Api 19,2010 Exhibit II-C Page 2 Comparative Date for Surrounding Districts Most school districts have not taken any action for 2010-2011 salary schedules. Document Notes Attached are the salary schedules. Both documents follow the same format, as explained below: ‘Api 19, 2010 Column 1: Years Experience — Number of years completed in public school ‘employment as a teacher Column 2: 2009-2010 Salary ~ Irving ISD Salary Schedule for 09-10. Column 3: DFW #5 Plus 2% - In reviewing the salary schedules of the 13, north Texas school districts, the cell indicates the fifth best salary for that number of years experience, projected with a 2% percent increase in salary. Column 4: Proposed 2010-2011- Proposed Irving ISD salary schedule for 10-11 Column 5: Actual $ Raise — The difference in dollars between a teacher's, salary in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. As shown in the example (gray cell areas), a teacher with zero experience in 09-10 will look in the cell for one year experience for their 10-11 salary. Column 6: Actual % Raise - The percent increase in salary from 09-10 to 10-11 Exhibit IIl-C Page 3 RESOLUTION AND ORDER NO. 09-10-20 AN ORDER APROVING CERTAIN CLASSROOM TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULES FOR THE 2010-2011 FISCAL YEAR AND. PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT. WHEREAS, the District's Budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year is in the process of being developed; and WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Schools has, pursuant to Board Policy DEA (Local), presented and recommended for approval, pay structures and compensation plans for the District's Classroom Teachers to be effective for the 2010-2011 school year; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees finds it desirable and in the best interest of the school . its students, and employees, to approve, the recommendations of the Superintendent of Schools. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT: Section 1; ‘The above and foregoing recitals be, and are hereby, found to be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this Resolution verbati Section 2: The salary schedule for Classroom Teachers, as listed and described in Exhibit “A” attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, be, and is hereby, approved and adopted for the District's 2010-2011 fiscal year Section 3: Approval and adoption of the subject salary schedule, and the iplementation thereof, is subject to and contingent upon the Board of Trustees’ adoption of the 2010-2011 Budget and sufficient appropriation of then current, available funds. Section 4: It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this Resolution was considered was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place and purpose of the meeting was given and posted, all as required by Chapter 551, Tex Gov't Code, as amended. Section 5: This Resolution and Order shall take effect upon the date and time of final adoption of the District’s 2010-2011 Budget. IT IS SO ORDERED.
