Aim
To identify what substances
that can be found in the food.

Materials and Tools


Materials:
- Lugol solution
- Biuret solution
- Egg
Tools:
- Oil
- Paper
- Rice
- Container
- Pipet

Steps
FAT TEST
1. Firstly, you prepare the paper and the
oil.
2. Then, you lubricate the paper with oil.
3. Then, you hold the paper in the air
while the light shines through the
paper to see whether the paper turns
trasnparant or not.

PROTEIN TEST
1. Firstly, you prepare the biuret solution,
the yolk egg, egg whites and the rice.
2. Then, you drop the biuret solution with
the pipet (once or twice).
3. Then, you see the results.
If the eggs or the rice turns into purple,
that means it contains protein.

CARBOHYDRATE TEST
1. Firstly, you prepare the lugol solution,
the egg whites and the rice.
2. Then, you drop the lugol solution with
the pipet (once or twice).
3. Then, you see the results.
If the eggs or the rice turns into black,
that means it contains carbohydrate.

Results
PROTEIN TEST (Yolk)
The yolk doesnt turn into
purple. So, that means that the
egg yolk doesnt contain
protein.

The egg whites turns into
purple. So, that means that the
egg whites contains protein.

PROTEIN TEST (Rice)
The rice doesnt turn into
purple. So, that means that
the rice doesnt contains
protein.

CARBOHYDRATE TEST (Rice)
The rice turns black. So, that
means that the rice contains
carbohydrate.

FAT TEST (Oil)
The paper turns transparant. So,
that means that the oil contains
fat.
