This activity will be completed in small groups of three assisted by a trainee

teacher. Counting students off 1 to 3 to create the groups (unless otherwise
specified by the teacher) students will move to a learning space with their
teacher helper and required resources.

(10 mins) Once each child has shared three or four ideas and placed them
onto the Popplet app, they will move on to reading The Moon iBook together.
Teacher helpers will provide assistance on words or terms students have
difficulty with and ensure that each student is given an opportunity to do
some oral reading.

(10mins) Using Popplet, each group will brainstorm what they already know
about the Moon. Teacher helpers will take anecdotal notes and make
observations, prompting only when necessary using Key Questions.

After completing the iBook the students will work together to create an
iMotion movie showing the changes in the Moons shape that they have
learnt about. Teacher assistance may be needed here to provide technical
support in using this application.

each Moon phase. Labels will be placed underneath to correctly name these.
Once complete each group will have an opportunity to playback their video
to their classmates and tell them 1 fact they learnt about the Moon and its
phases during the activity.
The teacher will keep record of any alternative concepts the students had at
the beginning of the experience, the language used when explaining how they
completed the activity and reasons given for the moon changing shape, as
well as students who had trouble with the activity to aid in future planning.
