Courses
Students must complete one of the following courses to finish their degree:
STCO 43813 Ad Competition
Students research, plan, create, execute and evaluate an advertising campaign for a national client,
as part of the American Advertising Federation
National Student Advertising Competition.
STCO 48823 PR Competition
Students research, plan, create, execute and evaluate a multimedia campaign for a designated client,
as part of the Public Relations Student Society of
America Bateman Case Study Competition.
STCO 48833 Campaigns
Working in a team to research, plan, create,
execute and evaluate a multimedia strategic
communication campaign for a designated client.
Students will utilize their accumulated knowledge
from their major courses.

Public Relations
Concentration
Students must complete 12 hours of electives, which must include 6 hours of the
following:
STCO 32603 Publications
Creation and critique of printed and digital publications. Introduction to art direction, design theory,
planning, production, printing, digital delivery,
brand extension and visual continuity.
STCO 43333 ROXO Agency
Students work for TCUs student advertising and
public relations agency and attend a weekly onehour class to learn agency operations, professional
roles, work practices and industry trends.
STCO 47533 Case Studies
Use of the case study method to analyze organizational events and problems to discover best practices and solutions, based on theory, principles and
models related to public relations and advertising.

Advertising
Concentration
Students must complete 9 hours of electives,
which must include 6 hours of the following:
STCO 22403 Interactive Design
An overview of planning, strategy and constuction
of interactive platforms such as websites, advergaming, blogs and data presentations for target
audiences.
STCO 36433 Social Change
The use of advertising, public relations and marketing principles to create social change by influencing peoples attitudes and behavior. Introduces the
field of transformative consumer research.
STCO 44433 Global Branding
Introduces how global brands are communicated
and positioned to target audiences through marketing communications, including advertising, public
relations and sales promotions.

STCO 47433 Global Communication


Examines sources, media delivery systems and the
impact of globally conveyed information in different
cultural contexts.

STCO 43803 New Media


Introduces the fields of advertising and public
relations in new media. Topics include digital persuasion techniques, interactive media theory, new
media planning and measurement, analytics, social
media and interactive design considerations.

STCO 46723 Social Responsibility


Examines the Corporate Social Responsibility
movement and its challenges. Learn how to create
partnerships, improve the quality of life for employees and communities and measure outcomes.

STCO 41413 Copywriting


Examines theories, models, fundamentals and processes used in the development of effective advertising copy and its role in strategic communication.

STCO 47523 Crisis Communication


Students examine sources, media delivery systems
and the impact of globally conveyed information in
different cultural contexts.

STCO 43113 Psychology of Advertising


This course presents theories and models to examine consumer reactions to advertising and promotions and subsequent behaviors.
