su daleko od Vaice jedan sat, a nastavaju ih Raci
raskolnici, koji imadu svoju crkvu i sveenika svoga
obreda. U ovom selu i sad stoji zidana crkva, dobro
graena, pokrita hrastovim daicama, i to trokom
v. g. Pavla Blaevia, sadanjeg upnika u Lovasu,
lijepo je pokrivena i posveena Sv. Iliji, a upravlja
njome upnik malovaiki. Oltar je drven pristojno
ukraen, ima sliku Sv.Ilije (Gai 1936: 30).

vidjeli ljudi, koji su okolo zemlju obraivali, neko
svijetlo, kao da je zapaljena svijea iskoila iz zemlje,
i vie ovakvih znakova, koji daju jasan dokaz, da
usred ruevina ove nekad slavne crkve poiva neko
sveto tijelo. Potaknuti ovim znamenjima pokuavali
su ljudi susjednih sela kopati ondje zemlju da vide
to te ruevine kriju, i to to svijetlo znai, ali su u
tome poslu bili sprijeeni, jer je mnoge iznenada
napala teka bolest, drugima su opet udovi bili uzeti,
i tako su skratili svoje zemaljske dane (Gai 1936:

1859. Izmeu selah
Batrovacah i male Vasce, na obali Bosuta vidit je
takoer tragove bedemah, amacah i razruenih zidinah,
i to je mjesto ondanjemu puku poznato pod imenom
Gradina. Sudei po obsegu razvalinah i po liepom
poloenju mjesta i ciele one okolice, morao je i ovdje
biti njeko znameniti grad (Stojanovi 1859: 203).

Listom od 6. kolovoza t.g. iz Sotina obavieuje nas
velezasluni povjerenik zem. Muzeja i hrv. Arkeol.
Drutva Antun Bogeti o odkriu nedvojbenih tragova
predhistorikoga naselita, sbivem se teajem ovoga
ljeta sluajno na krajikom zemljitu nedaleko od
Morovia, koje bi moglo postati veoma znamenitom
rudom za na zem. Arkeol. Muzej te znatnom
polugom za razjanjenje najdavnije poviesti ove nae
zemlje, kad bi mu se Moecenata nalo, da ga potpuno
na svietlo izvede. Evo to o tom na prijatelj pie:
Doznao sam, da se kod Batrovaca most preko Bosuta
pravi, da se tamo toga radi njeka gradina razkapa, i
da se je ve mnogo drevnosti iznalo. Nisam mogao
prigorjeti, da se nae stvari u tuinu raznaaju, naem

kola, pak tamo. Ali kad na gradinu, imam to viditi.


Gradina se zove, ali su to ogromne mogile (humci), od
kojih je jednu sa strane mjernik do dva metra dubljine
prokopati dao. Tu se opaaju tri, jedan povrh drugoga,
ognjita; a izkopano je mnogo predmeta predhistorike
dobe. To su: 7 komada jelenskih rogova, 6 praka
razne veliine od peene zemlje, jedna posuda dosta
itava, jedan kalup od kamena, jedna naunica i 7
drugih komada od bakra. Sve ove stvari nalaze se
u mjernika, koji je prolih dana izaslan bio ondje od
kraj. Zem. Upravne oblasti, da onaj most pregleda. Isti
mjernik najbolje moe izvjee od razkopane mogile
podnjeti. Po mom skromnom mnienju skrije ista
mogila neizmjerno blago predhistorike dobe. To vam
je skup vie mogila tik rieke Bosuta; sa bosutske strane
osiplju se, te obilaze ih, naao sam odlomak klina
kamenite dobi i neoteenu praku od peene cigle.
Doao sam u trag, kako na narod nazivlje predmete
iz kamenite dobi. Nazivlje naime: ubojni kamen,
ubojna strielja, ubojna sekira. Sa otimi stvarmi vraa
od raznih bolesti i u braku. Tiem sam nainom doznao,
da takovih stvari u sakritom u narodu dosta imade
(Bogeti 1880: 123).

the Archaelogical Heritage of the Municipality of id

Key words: id, historical sources, archaeological sites.

The study contains the review of the historical sources for the period from 18th to 19th century in which
the existence of old buildings and sites in the municipality od id are mentioned. The earliest reference of a site
in this region is in the work of Count Marsigli from 1726. where he described the medieval fortress Berkasovo
(Despotovac). The lack of building stone in the lowland region of Srem led to the complete destruction of old
buildings. Today some building complexes or isolated objects which existed between 18th and 19th century are
absolutely unknown (the churches in Bainci, Molovin, Ilinci, the fortifications in Bainci and Ilinci).

New Research on Araa

Summary: The remains of the Araa basilica are located in the area of Novi Beej, about twenty kilometers northeast of the city. Araa is one of the three authentic preserved monuments of 13th century Romanesque
Gothic architecture in Vojvodina. Extensive archaeological and architectural research was conducted during the
seventies. Complex conservation works were carried out in the period from 1972 to 1976, and they included the
reconstruction of four pillars, parts of arches in the southern lateral nave, arches and a part of the northern wall
above the arches of the middle nave.
The origins of the basilica and the surrounding village Araa are still unclear, and there is still no reliable
data about the time of the building and its patrons. This could be obtained by the archaeological excavations, the
analysis of the stylistic characteristics, traces on the building structure of the basilica remains, their precise measurements and recording, as well as the next interpretation.
The precise dimensions, locations and shapes of the constructive and shaping elements of the original building have been obtained thanks to the use of advanced technology photogrammetric recording, manual technical recording, and electronic drawings with the use of photography.
The basilica has three naves in its base, with three semicircular apses, the centers of which are on the same
line. The longitudinal orientation significantly deviates from the ideal west-east orientation (60 30). The division into naves has been achieved through three pairs of columns. The basis is divided into four arches in the
longitudinal direction. The western wall has been preserved almost entirely. Parts of the stone rosette and the
stone sill of the entrance, the original width of which was 280 cm, are missing. The rosette diameter (with a profiled ring) is 385 cm.
On the inner side of the wall, in the zone of the southern side of the nave, traces of the former arch are
visible. The arch has a semicircular curve and it is 27cm thick. Above the arch, there is a gable wall where two
diagonal grooves indicate the position and slope of the roof surfaces, one slope is of 26, and the other is of 32.
The arches were lying on stone ribs, and the ribs were lying on the decorated consoles. The grooves on the arch
indicate the position and slope of the roof surfaces of the middle nave.
The height of the middle nave was calculated on the original parts of the attic cornice preserved in the inner south wall of the bell tower, the former exterior north wall of the middle nave. The preserved row of small
arcades and consoles, with the ending parts of the brick attic cornice indicates the position of the eaves of the
middle nave roof and they are a precious source of information about the appearance of all attic cornices which
are no longer there.
The remains of the stone consoles on the middle nave wall, on which the purloins laid, give reliable information about the place of the roof ridges above the side naves.
The longitudinal walls were built of bricks in the seventies and are up to 290 cm high. The buttresses are
rectangular, drawing from the foundation dimensions. The fundations of the buttresses are separate from the
foundations of the longitudinal walls.
There are the remains of three apses and a gable wall on the eastern side.
On the central apse most of the original structure is preserved. That is, the parts of red brick walls with original
window openings and four columns which separated the apse wall into five parts. The stone base fragment, which
provides enough data for reconstruction, is preserved next to the column in the corner toward the northern apse.
The upper parts of the dividing walls of the apses were decorated with semicircular-based pilasters with
capitals stylized with floral designs (northern pilaster), and an atlantes and a human figure (southern pilaster) and
an abacus in the form of a quarter of a circle.
Inside the basilica, there are six columns two of which are original, and four of which were made during the
1976 restoration. There were two types of columns: four with octagonal bases and next to the apse two with cruciform bases, semicircular pilasters and three quarters columns between the arms of the cross.

The octagonal-based column provides data about the appearance of the pilasters along the walls of the middle nave.
The four new columns were built according to the constructing project, with reinforced concrete core,
around which regular stone ashlars were built. The cores of the columns are about 55 cm. The stone ashlars
are 30 cm thick. The basis of the southeastern column is jagged. It has been reconstructed very successfully. The
stonework was performed by good masons. The capitals of those columns were improvised from the stone fragments of the original capitals, and with rows of dry-laid bricks.
The northern wall of the middle nave was reconstructed above the columns, based, on statically calculation,
with a frame made of reinforced concrete. The frame is made of vertical columns dimensions of which are 45 x
45 cm and a horizontal beam that goes to the western wall, which is secured from collapsing in this way.
The arches are made of stone ashlars. The same stones have been used as for the columns.
The bell tower was built in the 14th century, above the northeastern arch of the lateral nave. Its base is rectangular. The bell tower has two floors and the third floor is octangular, as a base for the cap tower. It has been
mortared.
The outline of a buttress is visible on the western wall, with clear indication of the place where it breaks
above the roof, its slope, and the place where it becomes the vertical supporting column. On the second floor,
there is a two-light window with a double Gothic arch.
The north facade of the bell tower is free and it can be observed in its entirety. It is covered with moss, so
there are plenty of illegible traces.
The dimensions of the buttress have been identified. It is 80 cm wide at the base, and 5 meters above, it is
reduced to 60 cm. The thickness of the buttress gradually reduces from 100 cm at the bottom to 75cm and then
45 cm.
The largest part of the eastern facade is free standing because the wall of the northern apse is missing. In the
upper part this facade overlaps the facade of the gable wall of the main nave by about 80 cm.
The southern facade of the bell tower is made of brick, roughly and with irregular joints.
Above the third floor, the rectangular base becomes octagonal over the pendetives. The base height was
slightly over 2.5 m. The octagons wall thickness is 75 cm. The most important traces are located on the southern wall of the bell tower. It was built with quality red brick, with regular joints. The original window has been
preserved. Above the window there is a preserved part of the original attic cornice of the middle nave. It has
been built in the same manner as the attic cornice on the middle apse.
The walls of the basilica contain plenty of precious data that is waiting to be read and interpreted. They will
be amended after conservation work on cleaning the walls of the biofilm. Earlier recorded traces and data have
been used for the interpretation of the construction methods and designs, as well as a base for extrapolation of
the ideal reconstruction of the basilica original the 14th century appearance. However, after the potential realization of additional data it will be possible to make adjustments in order to increase the accuracy and historical
truth.

3D Computer Analysis of the Causes of


Static Problems of Basilica Araa

In this article, an introduction and light educational view of the Finite element method is given in comparison to the traditional approaches of structural design calculations.
The implementation of Finite element method into the AxisVM computer programme, and the features and
advantages of this software are also presented.
As an illustration, the design structure of basilica Araa is implemented into the spoken computer programme, and some interesting details, through the history of the church, about static anomalies are shown.
First, how the disproportion of internal resistance between main centered walls, their columns and the rest
of the structure generated unwanted load distribution, and possible damages.
Second, in the year 1370, when after profound reconstruction, a bell-tower is added on the northern side of
basilica, some new structural anomalies are developed. Unhappily chosen, non symmetric design, introduced
into these middle longitudinal centered walls, forces which tend them to collapse.
Finally, some suggestions about the possibilities for reconstruction are also given, as well as the scenario for
more damage if no further preventive action takes place in the future.

The Incentive to Build a New Town Hall in
Veliki Bekerek at the End of 19th Century

Abstract: This paper analyses the beginning and the development of the incentive for the building of the new
town hall in Veliki Bekerek which originated from the end of the 19th century. Despite tremendous economic
development of the town in that period, favourable social and historic conditions and great construction enthusiasm, this idea was not realised, unlike other construction ventures at that time. The special attention in this paper
is paid to the life and creative work of two Hungarian architects Istvan Kish and Adolf Lang whose names
were related to this project. The new town hall was not built due to the lack of consensus of the town heads and
other social factors that took part in decision making. The old town hall survived until the 60s of the last century, when pursuant to the stipulations of the Master plan in 1958 it gave way to Vodotoranj Water tower.

At the beginning of 1909, after several unsuccessful attempts, the construction of the new City Slaughterhouse in Veliki Bekerek became certain. According to the city newspapers Torontal, a piece of land at the
corner of Toe Jovanovia Street and Begejski red was purchased for that purpose. In the middle of the same
year, the City Assembly decided to call for design plans for the new slaughterhouse. The idea was abandoned after the City Assembly authorized representatives had visited some of the most modern slaughterhouses in the region. Instead of the tender, Szkelyi Lszl, an architect from Timisoara, was invited to make plans for the new
city slaughterhouse. His experience in this kind of projects was thought to be the best guarantee for a successful
business. The example of Bekerek was followed by Panevo as soon as the following month. However, Szkelyis plans were not realized there.
In December 1909, the architect submitted to the City Mayor the preliminary design of the slaughterhouse, the
description and the amount of approximate expenses. In one of the following issues, journalists gave detailed information about the techical innovations which would be used in meat production. An interesting fact on the technical
side of the project is that the waste waters from the plant were released into the river after the adequate purification.
The bulding largely retained its original appearance, despite the later additions and minor transformations.
The halls, workshops, ice factory and other buildings of the complex in Begej were organized symmetrically,
and the result of the whole view and the original design of roof lines, facades and wreaths was a dynamic and
harmonious composition. The massive prismatic tower dominates the view, while the harmonious administrative
building with symetrically placed mezzanine, in which the kindergarden is placed today, stood aside.

The text about the architecture of the villa of the Jzsef Vrkony, the painter, comprises several interrelated
parts.
The history of the villas location is presented in the first, shorter introductory part of the text, starting from
the end of the 19th century, when no buildings existed in this area covered with forest, along the coast of the Begej in the Mala Amerika settlement.
An overview of research done up to the present times is given after that, as well as the basic biographical
data about the investor of the villa, the painter Jzsef Vrkony, who raised the residential building in 1910, in the
Art Nouveau architectural style, which he, the famous impressionist, also used as a painting studio.
Also, in the part related to the historical and artistic analysis of the villa, the inner organization of space and
its stylistic characteristics are presented in detail, based on the original preserved plans of the building.
In the end, other villa-like buildings are listed, which were built in Veliki Bekerek starting from the end of
the 19th century until the beginning of World War I, with a special emphasis on those built in the Art Nouveau
style. Within the final part, the facts about the present condition of the buildings and the level of their protection
are included.

The Influence of the New Stylistic Expressions


at the Beginning of the 20th Century to
the Construction in Vojvodina

The architecture of secession in Vojvodina originated and developed on a relatively small geographical area
far away from bigger centers; nevertheless it appeared in the same time period as in a great number of metropolises. It does not represent the compact stylistic expression on the above stated territory, but it differentiates depending on the local area. The stylistic influences that bring new architectonic and constructive approach to the
building and shaping of palaces and villas are transferred directly from bigger European centers (mostly from
Vienna and Budapest) by the authors trained there; with evident additional influence of national architecture
from the territory of the Pannonian plain and Erdelj, which altogether contribute to the strong local trait of this
architecture. Under the influence of these different tendencies the local architects were formed and they created
specific and very original copyrighted work.

Altar Ciborium of the Church of the Nativity

Ever since the oldest Christian communities began to build their temples, they filled them with ciboria. The
pillars which held the canopy made the base architecture of the altar ciboria. The variously shaped pillars were
interconnected with a construction that was different in every region. The size, the material and the luxurious
decorations of the altar ciboria were always related to the importance of the temple, and the financial power of
its ktitors (patrons).
The existence of altar ciboria in medieval Serbian Orthodox churches has not been found. Later, only in certain Serbian temples, some quite rare examples of this liturgical furniture could be found.
The placement of the altar ciborium in the Mesi catholicon is the contemporary attempt of highlighting the
architectural and meaningful unity of the Churchs baldachin and altar mensa in a Serbian Orthodox Church. This
endeavor, conducted at the very end of the past century, is quite extraordinary, given that it is an interpolation of
the indoor environment of a building that is registered as a historical and cultural monument of exceptional importance. The basic architecture of Mesi altar ciborium is grounded on the early models of examples of the same
kind, and its position was not jeopardizing the existing mensa, because its lower part remained intact in the lower
part of the ciborium. Special attention was paid while determining the horizontal dimensions of the ciborium so
that they do not disrupt any liturgical action in the altar area. Its vertical dimensions were adjusted to the volume
value of the altar, and did not jeopardize the visual access to the laos from the nave in regard to the certain frescoes in the altar. The role of Mesi ciborium was primarily essential, but its architectural significance was not neglected. However, it was removed in 2008, just before the dismantling the altar railing erected in 1996.

Analizying works of Sava umanovi published in the monograph by Ljubica Miljkovi Sava umanovi,
surrending to the passion we have the opportunity to see most of his works in one place.At first a large number
of sketches is indicated.The sketches show the seriousness of the artist to create a work of art. umanovi did
sistematically the sketches in all drawing teshniques The way of the painting had its own course and these
sketches explain the procedure.The monograph Sava umanovi, surrending to the passion by Ljubica Miljkovi was the model for linking the sketches with the paintings. By analyzing and linking the sketches and oil
on canvas, known so far, six groups have been formed.

The Importance of Cartographic Sources for


the Study of the Development of Zemun

Ever since 1717, when the army of Eugene of Savoy entered Zemun and when Zemun became a constituent
of the Austrian empire and it was developing under their rule up to 1918, it is possible to follow its continual
growth and its formation into a significant urban unity, through several stages limited by certain political events.
Zemun was repopulated and developed in a very subordinate position in relation to Belgrade, in its shadow,
during the first half of the 18th century, at the stage of the reconstruction of the former village of oriental character with mostly Christian residents. That phase is limited by the treaties of Poarevac and Belgrade. The core
of Zemun was gradually growing and forming in the second phase, in the second half of the 18the century. That
phase ends at the time of Austro-Turkish and Napoleons wars in the end of the 18th and in the beginning of the
19th century. In the third phase, during the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th century, Zemun was developing
within set construction foundations, i.e. through the reconstruction of the legacy, since the First Serbian Uprising
until the World War I. The fourth phase, which has lasted from the World War I until today, is characterized by
singular building within the core of Zemun, which ceased being the boundary place.
Since its formation in the first half of the 18th century until today, the historical development of the core
of Zemun shows natural continuity of formation, expansion and final shaping of an urban unity with all the
elements which sustain the complex social relations, the structure of the population, economic developments,
cultural circumstances, social capacities, and, in general, the totality of urban life in the range of three hundred
years. The development of the core is especially important for the sustainment of the formation process of the
spatial framework of life in different eras through the construction and architectural metamorphosis.
The topographic development of the core of Zemun can be studied through the cartographic sources and
plans and their supporting documentation, along with the town regulations, construction of defensive buildings,
condition and number of buildings, general arrangement and disposition of houses, the structure of the buildings
and the like.
The Vienna War Archive owns the largest collection of old cartographic sources for the study of the territorial growth of the old core. The signature plans of Zemun were listed by Rudolf Schmidt, Ph.D in his Overview
of the maps and plans of the Vienna War Archive, which are related to Yugoslavia (typed manuscript). Vienna,
1932. (Zemun no. 1964, 2142, 2423-2425, 2521-2527, 2543-2553, 2567, 2632-2634, 3511-3517, 4737-4763).
Besides that, those plans provide information for the military-historical development of Zemun, the battles led
in its environment, the concentration of troops and the like. The Home Museum of Zemun has several plans of
Zemun among which the detailed cadastral plan of 1780 stands out.
Cartographic sources are available in the Land Registry Office of the Fourth Municipal Court of Zemun, as
well as other documentation concerning proprietary and land relations and property.
A special role was played by the settlements which developed as military, economic and cultural centers and
over the time evolved into the cities throughout two centuries in Vojvodina. Based on the fact that the period of
the 18th, and especially the 19th century marked the quantitative and qualitative development of the settlements,
in this paper we will call attention to the importance of cartographic sources, i.e. archival plans for the study of
the development of cities, on the example of Zemun, which had self-governing authority since 1751, when the
city representation was elected, through 1871 when it was a free royal town, until 1934 when it was integrated
into Belgrade, the capital.

It is a common case to discover in our collections of paintings which belong to museums and galleries, as a
part of some current project, a new value of neglected or even forgotten artists.
Exactly that happened in 2011. when the project Conservation of the paintings of Munich school students
started. Owner of the project is the City Museum Sombor, while a partner during realization of so far three
phases in this project is the Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade.
Third phase of this great and significant project is just ongoing, which is financed by the Ministary of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. During three years of work on conservation of paintings of the students of the
Munich School, one name was the most present, and quality of his work is impressive. It is Peter Kalman (18771947), a painter whose 25 works are today stored in Native collection of the City Museum in Sombor. This
large number of paintings is in the Museum thanks to family Singer, which enabled young Peter Kalman, who
came from a pour peasant family, a painting education in Budapest and Munich. In Serbia his life is quite unexplored he was much more known throughout the world than here. That confirms numerous solo exhibitions: in
Dusseldorf (1911), Munich (1912. and 1913.), Dresden (1913) and Berlin (1914). Also, he was a war painter in
Austro-Hungarian army from 1914 to 1918. and painted war battles in Russia and Turkey. Kalman participated
in 1929. in world exhibit in Barcelona, where he received a gold medal for painting. His name appeared again in
the joint exhibition in 1930. in Budapest, in the National Salon.
Although, the paintings were painted by the same author, their technological characteristics and conservation problems are completely different. This paper will deal with significance of different tests for making a correct decision about the phases in conservation treatment, as well as for selection of compatible materials which
will be used during the treatment.
Having found out that some inadequate interventions were made on most of Kalman`s paintings during the
20th century conservationists of the Central Institute for conservation suggested new standards for conservation
to prevent such problems to be repeated in the future.

Old Crafts as Part of Cultural Tradition Woodcarving

Perpetuation of knowledge and skills that are the essence of old crafts represents continuous creative process based in tradition and makes the intangible cultural heritage of a nation. A segment of cultural tradition
which is researched is the historical context of woodcarving tradition, as a craft that had been present on the territory of Vojvodina for centuries as well as the reasons of its disappearance and the conditions for its renovation.
In this paper, a long standing process of reviving the woodcarving craft that has been in extinction is presented, through the work of a cultural institution. During the late 20th century this institution changed its role
from that of a performer of professional activities into the one of a center for education and a nursery of highly
specialized, professionally trained staff who became not only the bearers of the craft but also those who assigned
the skills, ideas and knowledge. The model of woodcarving craft revival in Serbia is applicable in other areas or
on other disappearing crafts, knowledge and skills which are part of our cultural tradition.

the Rehabilitation of the Synagogue in Subotica

This article is the conclusion of a long-year research of the author, presented within his PhD dissertation on
the topic: The restoration of the synagogue in Subotica revitalization and rehabilitation possibilities through
Carpathian Basin examples. The Synagogue in Subotica is a cultural heritage building of the highest importance, and is an unique Jewish religious building in the region designed in the style of Hungarian secession (Art
Nouveau). As a result of a general social neglect, and the lack of finances Its restoring process already lasts
for almost forty years. The author, who has been actively involved in the restauration of the building for more
than fifteen years, makes an analysis of the real needs of the town and thewider region for a new institution of
culture, with keeping the original religious function too, and gives a proposition for the new purpose to the abandoned building. In a special chapter he determines basic guidelines, principles and opportunities for the revitalization and rehabilitation of the synagogue and the surrounding buildings, designed and constructed in the same
period (1900-1904) by the same author-architects (Dezs Jakab and Marcell Komor). In his text he performers
a detailed analysis of all supporting functions necessary to implement a new purpose of the building, in order to
rehabilitate it with less changes and interventions.

The Importance and Limitations of Climate


Monitoring at the Example of Museum Institutions
and Immovable Cultural Property in Vojvodina

This paper deals with the importance of climate monitoring and problems in the acquisition and processing,
i.e. interpretation and use of the gathered data in preservation of cultural heritage, using the examples of museum institutions and immovable cultural property in Vojvodina. The paper presents the results obtained by continuous monitoring of relative humidity and temperature at different periods and of different duration, as well as
analysis of the collected data in terms of the characteristics of internal climatic conditions and their stability, and
the behavior of a building in relation to the external climatic conditions. The data on relative humidity and temperature are compared with the documented behavior of materials in various climatic conditions in the storages,
exhibition spaces and historic buildings, to be able to suggest adequate solutions for the climate control and prevent the deterioration of cultural properties. Recommendations are made in accordance with the needs of the objects, the results of scientific research on the response of materials to changes in humidity and temperature, and
measures that reflect the growing need for climate control solutions which respect the principles of sustainability
and energy efficiency.

Stages of Management of Cultural and


Touristic Products in Serbia

Planning and design make cultural resources become touristic resources, but only with the process of presentation and interpretation they do become cultural and heritage tourism products. They represent the coherence of attraction, accommodation and transport, which consists of the main (monuments, manifestations and
services of museum and monument tourism guidance) and the additional product (general touristic services and
offers of touristic information centers, national touristic organizations, touristic clubs, agencies and transport
infrastructure) as the elements of general touristic product. Cultural potentials of Serbia are great but also indulgent in planning and management. Due to the vague objectives and priorities of development, cultural tourism
is being developed without a specific plan. Strategic decision making in the process of planning of cultural and
touristic products development has to involve all stakeholders: state institutions, local authorities, tourism industry, regional and local tourist organizations and development agencies, as well as cultural institutions, Serbian
Orthodox Church, tourist guides and others whose opinions are of the importance to the planning and decision
making. The aim of the paper is to present that with small investments, cultural and tourism products may have
important economic effects on the economic growth and development, income increase, employment and competitiveness of Serbia.

The Use of 3d Model in the Presentation of the Cultural


Heritage on the Ocassion of Dunavska Street from

A virtual animation of the buildings and the space of one part of the city core was shown as a part of the
Dunavska Street from the city gate to cultural heritage exhibition, which was organized to commemorate 30
years of work and existence of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Novi Sad.
The project for a three-dimensional recording of the urban scheme has been carried out in collaboration
with the Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade and Marko Aleksi, an architect, with the use of modern 3D laser scanning methods. The three-dimensional digital model has been completed based on the scans
made using the three-dimensional laser scanner for scanning the buildings in 3D. In this way, a documentation
base of 3D digital models was made, which offers many opportunities for the cultural heritage presentation and
popularization.
The records obtained are the best way of documenting, because the scanner records the whole building geometry in three dimensions.
In the member states of the European Union, cultural heritage is presented with the use of modern technology, which contributes to quicker and easier awareness creation about the importance of cultural heritage among
the general population. This type of presentation is still insufficiently used in our region.
