to become business-minded.
The students learned many experiences
and lessons mostly in how to start a small
business. Each business owner shared
with the students his/her success stories.
What strikes us most is that the key to
have a continuous and successful business is patience and passion. Your patience on how to improve your business
and passion on what you do are very important. Also, praying to God to have guidance in every circumstance or problem
that you may encounter in your life should
not be forgotten.

The Professional Regulation Commission together with the Professional Regulatory Board of
Accountancy will start the implementation of changes in the coming May 2016 CPA Licensure Examination.
From the previous seven (7) subjects, the exam would now be composed of six (6) subjects as follows: Financial Accounting and Reporting; Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting; Management Advisory
Services; Auditing; Taxation; and Regulatory Frame for Business Transaction. The seven subjects used to
be included in the Board Examination have been in place for a decade now, thus, needed revisions were
considered to take into account the requirements of the current times.
The Board of Accountancy (BOA) has done a mapping or matching of the subjects in the currently prescribed BS Accountancy curriculum with the topics that will be covered by the six subjects. It indicated that there is a 100%
match which meant that all of the revised subjects are covered and taught in the current BSA curriculum. The revised CPA
Exam created a better linkage between theory and practice and therefore would conform with the new outcomes-based approach in education.
The Fisher Valley College, particularly the College of Business Administration and Accountancy headed by Prof. Marlon
Raquel, is continuously finding ways to make sure that our accountancy students would have the knowledge and skills to take
the Board exam with these revised subjects.
