Mr. Ronald Foley Long Island Regional Director NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Belmont Lake State Park P.O.Box247
Babylon, NY 11702 Dear Mr. Foley:

This letter is a followup to the conversation our office had with you regarding a permit request by the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation (NRSP) for their "sunset Run" on June 5, 2010.

It is our understanding that all regional parks directors have been instructed not to issue any permits for events that are scheduled to be held in parks which are slated to either close or reduce services. In addition, we have been advised that once the 2010-2011 New York State Parks budget is adopted and funding restored, that the Office of Parks will begin issuing permits.
Although budget negotiations are still ongoing and the parks budget is still unresolved, we respectfully request that special consideration be given to NRSP's permit request. This annual event draws over 1,000 runners and is a very worthwhile endeavor.
Both NRSP and the Kings Park community are eager to proceed with the "sunset Run". We appreciate you considering issuing a permit as soon as possible so that they can continue planning and preparing for the event.

As always, thank you for your kind assistance.
Sincerely,

tJ
