1. The pledge of Allegiance talks about the content on how we can express our
ideas. Our freedom only ends when we subject others to a clear and present danger of
harm. Which means that we can’t slander others or threaten them. Also, that we can
criticize them as much as we want and even if it hurts their feelings. For example, we
can’t express ourselves at times and places in ways that are too intrusive or cause too
many problems.
2. If the pledge of allegiance clearly stated the words freedom of speech then
perhaps people would take it more seriously. Although it says liberty it doesn't say what
kind and many people may argue that it’s all type of liberty and other will counter argue
that. But to answer the question in my eyes and in my understanding is says nothing
about the freedom of speech.
3. “I pledge allegiance to Big Brother and for which it stands, and to all party
members of Oceania, with strict rules and harsh punishments for all”.

4. “My Iron Lung”, this song is all about Radiohead’s “Creep” from their first
album. The iron lung was a mechanical respirator that worked using negative pressure to
assist breathing. My Iron Lung refers to creep being the only thing keeping Radiohead

successful. This song used self-reflexive lyrics as a metaphor to the way Creep which
both sustained the band’s life and constrained them. "This is our new song / just like the
last one / a total waste of time / my iron lung"(Line 25). My Iron Lung is one of the
songs that shows indirectly to 2+2=5.
5. The Bends, this song is a combination of other songs like creep, 2+2=5 and etc.
The sound of the song is bold and confident. So far Bend is one of the songs by
Radiohead that is half dark and were people can relate to it. Bend shows as directly to
theme of 1984. For example, “I wanna live, breathe, I , wanna be part of the human race,
I wanna live breathe, I wanna be part of the human race, race, race, race”. (Line 29). It
shows that someone who wants to keep on fighting and never give up.
Where do we go from here?
The words are coming out all weird
Where are you now, when I need you
Alone on an aeroplane
Fall asleep on against the window pane
My blood will thicken

I need to wash myself again to hide all the dirt and pain
'Cause I'd be scared that there's nothing underneath
But who are my real friends?
Have they all got the bends?
Am I really sinking this low?

My baby's got the bends, oh no
We don't have any real friends, no, no, no

Just lying in the bar with my drip feed on
Talking to my girlfriend, waiting for something to happen
I wish it was the sixties, I wish I could be happy
I wish, I wish, I wish that something would happen

Where do we go from here?
The planet is a gunboat in a sea of fear
And where are you?
They brought in the CIA, the tanks and the whole marines
To blow me away, to blow me sky high

My baby's got the bends
We don't have any real friends

Just lying in the bar with my drip feed on
Talking to my girlfriend, waiting for something to happen
I wish it was the sixties, I wish I could be happy
I wish, I wish, I wish that something would happen

I wanna live, breathe
I wanna be part of the human race
I wanna live, breathe
I wanna be part of the human race, race, race, race

Where do we go from here?

The words are coming out all weird
Where are you now when I need you?
