POSITION INFORMATION
The Special Events and Development Internship will offer experience in nonprofit special events, public relations,
fund development, and marketing. This position provides direct support to the Development team in all aspects of
executing special events and fundraising initiatives in support of Anchor Centers mission.
Through hands-on fundraising and day-of-event support, the Special Events and Development Intern assists with
successful execution of two major fundraising events: Energy Corporation of America ForeSight Golf Classic (June
29) and Sunset in the Country (July 29). In addition, they will provide additional administrative support to the
Development team as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Generates leads for in-kind donations and event items through research and network contacts
Solicits in-kind donations in person and manages follow-up calls to business contacts
Assists with multiple complex mailings ensuring timeliness, accuracy and attention to detail
Assist with on-site event execution including set up and tear down for both the ForeSight Golf Classic in
June and Sunset in the Country in July as needed under direction of Special Events Coordinator and
Development team members
Provide essential day-of-event volunteer support for both the ForeSight Golf Classic in June and Sunset in
the Country in July
May create event collateral materials, signage, and other printed pieces as required
May assist in writing event-related auction descriptions for signage as required
May provide event assistance for Silent Auction including assembling and photographing items as needed
Assist with data entry as needed
Additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Working Environment
Educational/classroom and office environment including children with limited or no vision and parent visits
Some travel required (must be able to provide reliable transportation; Anchor Center will reimburse intern
for mileage)
Off-site event venues as appropriate
Physical Activities
Able to lift up to 40 pounds
