Updated Statement from Henry Ford Hospital

DETROIT – Here is an updated statement from Henry Ford Hospital regarding the ongoing water
discoloration.

The safety of our patients and employees is our top priority. As a precautionary measure, we will
continue today with using bottled water for drinking and hand sanitizer for hand washing. Toilets
are still functional. Ice and water machines are not to be used.

No patient services are affected and all hospital operations are fully operational. We are using
sterilized water for all procedures.

During the overnight hours, water pipes at Henry Ford Hospital were completely flushed and
chlorinated. Once completed, the water was running clear. Water samples were taken and sent to
2 independent water testing agencies for evaluation. Those results are expected tonight.

We believe this situation was related to a water valve that was opened in the M1 Rail construction
zone on West Grand Boulevard.

Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
