Installing Ant

Download Ant
1. Create the ant folder on your c:\drive (C:\ant) 2. Go to http://ant.apache.org/ 3. Ensure that you have the correct system requirements as listed on the Ant website. • As of August 28, 2006, JDK (Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition Developer Kit) is needed to use Ant. Download JDK from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp. Select the JDK that matches your operating system and download it. 4. Download the Ant zip file and save it to your desktop. 5. Open the zip file, and extract the files to c:\ant. 6. Move all of the files and folders from apache-ant-#.# folder, to c:\ant (this is because apache-ant-#.# folder may be too long of a name when running Ant).

Set up Ant Variables
1. 2. 3. 4. On your desktop, right-click on My Computer, and select Properties. Select the Advanced tab. Click Environment Variables. Under User Variables, create the following new variables: Variable Name Variable Value JAVA_HOME Enter the path to the bin folder that has java.exe that you installed in the previous step (do not enter bin in the variable value). For example, c:\progra~1\java\jdk1.5.0_08\jre, where progra~1 is Program Files (Java doesn’t like spaces in a file path, that’s why progra~1 is used) ANT_HOME c:\ant where c:\ant is the location of the ant files that you downloaded. Adjust the values depending on where you downloading the files. PATH %PATH%;%ANT_HOME%\bin a. b. c. d. Click New. Enter the variable name and value, and click OK. Repeat for the remaining variables. When finished adding the variables, click OK.
